I have scoured the forums searching for someone with the same problem and a thread with the right answer to fix my problem but I can't find the fix. I have seen the same problem in the forums but I don't think for the same reasons. I just bought a new system even though I have been playing BF2 since it came out but on my old system. When I went to install it on my new system it installed properly. First install attempt I installed BF2 first, then the expansion packs, then the full 1.4v patch. I double clicked the BF2 icon and the logo square came up like normal, the screen went black and flickered a few times as if changing resolution and then went back to desktop. I restarted and tried again with the same results. Next I uninstalled BF2 and DL'ed every patch but all the incremental versions but to no avail, I still get the same black screen back to desktop issue. I have tried both these install attempts without installing the expansion packs and still have the same problem. I own BF2142 and have installed it and it works properly. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know, I really doubt it has to do with my hardware cause everything is new and working fine on other games. My comp specs are as follows:
