Graphics anomaly causes CTD

OK, I have a problem and it's driving me crazy. I'll get into the game just fine. Almost immediately after joining a server, I start seeing some bushes as just black blobs, and if I bring up the score by pressing tab, I cannot read anybodies names, they just come up as multiple black boxes. If I look at a chopper overhead, I see a big rectangle where the chopper blade should be, and sometimes, half the map turns black.

If I escape out and try to get to the main menu, it will CTD. Also, when it tries loading another map it CTDs.

I have a Pentium D 2.8 ghz machine, 1 gig of RAM, an ATIx600 video card. I have updated the latest drivers, turned off my firewall, shut off all services and scanned for viruses and spyware and I didn't find a thing.

I have reinstalled the game, and reinstalled the patch.

The funny thing is that I was playing this game without any problems for a good 2 weeks.

This is driving me CRAZY. I'll try and provide some screenshots of what is happening to me when I get out of work.

Are you running the game on low settings? I had a similar problem last time I upgraded my vid card. Here's the steps I took to fix it:

Deleted BF2 and SF cache files from mydocs.

Put latest Omega drivers on the desktop.

Used Driver cleaner and removed all ATI

Powered off.

New Hardware detected and closed out (didn't want to load stock drivers.)

Installed Omega Drivers.

Ran BF2 optimzed shaders and I was good to go.

Then I found out I had some memory problems so I had to get rid of my 2 gigs and go back to 1 for the time being.

(Make sure the card is seated properly while you're at it if you've been opening your case a lot. Also, you might as well put a can of compressed air in that thing if you haven't cleaned it out in a while)

Actually, I've been running it on medium without any problems.

I'm gonna try your tips out, I hope it works. I'm at the point where I am about to just stop playing this game altogether.

I got this to work last night by using the steps above. I didn't use the omega drivers though.
