First Sergeant vs. MG Sergeant

I'll admit, I posted this over on the "Support" section, but I think it was out of place there. ConscriptVirus was kind enough to reply, but to get a few more inputs, I've posted here.

1) If you earn more than 20K points and do not have all the badges required for First Sergeant and you become a Master Sergeant instead, can you still become a Sergeant Major (instead of a Master Gunnery Sergeant) at 50K points if you earn all the badges that are required for First Sergeant and all the additional badges required for Sergeant Major; or if you miss making First Sergeant, are you doomed to advance to Master Gunnery Sergeant at 50K ?

2) If you do not make either First Sergeant or Sergeant Major, but do make Master Gunnery Sergeant, can you still advance to 2nd Lt at 60K; or is making Sergeant Major a additional requirement to become an officer?

1. When you reach 50K it's a whole different story. It doesn't depend on what rank you are, but what badges you have. So yes, you can be Sgt Major even if you got the lower rank before

2. No, when you get to 60K you will be promoted to 2nd LT regarless of your current rank as well

As long as you have all the badge req. for a Rank then you get that rank no matter what your past ranks were.

Yeah. Whenever I see a master sgt, or Colonel with more then 180000 points I just think lazy lamer.

Think what you like. In my case it went along the lines of a real career in real life. Which implied having no time to ponder about some virtual ranks and how to get there. In the sparse time I have for playing BF2, I even need the first minutes to remember and get accustomed to all movement keys, if you get the picture. Then I'm ready to smash-an-trash-an-crash-an-burn. In doing so, I snailed beyond the 20,000 in almost a year. Recently I read on a forum that not having the knife and pistol badges would hamper my ranks. So be it, doesn't bother me at all. I have all the weapons I want and it's the fun in gameplay and the cool shots/kills that I like in BF2. Not that no life list.

I did, and it pissed me off for 30,000 points! But I dont look at the Master Sarg as anything different than the first Sarg.

i dont get how anyone could not get sergeant major, wit hteh time it takes to get 50k points you can get teh basic vehicle badges easily

It's my opionion. Doesn't change anyone's life, so don't flame me. I think that once you passed the 10,000 stage then you should have some idea about the stats sites that are avaliable including what badges that are requered.

Not having a go at anyone personally, but it's just my impression, that's all. Sorry if I offend anyone with my beliefs.

Come on, basic badges aren't hard to get :laugh:
