Connection Problem

Ok, I've tried searching for help for this-- just can't find it and I'm losing patience.

Anyway a few weeks ago I downloaded a NO CD patch for BF2 (CD Version), not realizing Punkbuster would kick me constantly. Unfortunately I made the mistake of not backing up my original .exe file.

Anyway, I uninstalled/reinstalled the game using the CDs like normal, and I am getting a "Refused Connection" error on log-in. I honestly have no idea what to do at this point and never experienced such an error when logging in with the original install.

I beg of you, please give me any assistance you can. I've been without BF2 for too long because of this.

uninstall the game, and then goto start, run type regedit hit OK, then expand HKEY CURRENT USER, scroll till u see any EA or DICE folder, click that once so it highlights then press DEl key n keyboard to delete it, do this for every EA/DICE folder you find, Then expand HKEY LOCAL MACHINE and do the same. Doing this basically tells your PC that BF2 was never installed as all the previous installations are not deleted. Also scroll to where you installed BF2 in the first place via My Computer & delete the BF2 folder assuming this has not already being deleted.

there is neither an EA or Dice folder in either folder, after my uninstall....???

make sure BF2.exe isnt getting blocked by a firewall,

hmm...this could be it. only problem is my subscription to norton expired and it won't let me disable anything, or make any firewall exceptions. God is this program murder...i can't even uninstall it or disable it. ridiculous.


just wait till i get their customer service on the phone.

Bro, go here and follow the directions to completely get rid of BF2 from your computer and then do a fresh reinstallm, good luck.
