Lag Problems

its weird becuase i just starting having this lag problem recently, every 8-11 secs my computer lags for 1-3 seconds (meaning game play stops), never happened before. its not the internet im sure of that.

my system specs. i have a 200GB hard drive but i have 23GB left
video card: Geforce 7600 GT OC 256MB PCI-E Card
RAM: 1GB of ram
CPU: Intel 3.0 GHZ (HT)

wuts ur anti-virus?
and have u done malware/adware scan?

ya i had some malware/virus on my comp... what i did to remove it/i deleted it through rededit(regestry) i scanned my computer with webroot spy sweeper, scanned it with norton, scaned it with kaspersky.

What are the programs you run in the backround?

i hardly run anything in the background...i use run/msconfig to edit my start up and i basicaly dont have any programs that run on startup, except norton and skysweeper but i had them running before and there was no lag problems

the only thing i can think of is that i have a lot of fragmented files that for some reason cant be defraged and is cloging my hard drive
