Black Boxes?

Sometimes ingame, some things will be replaced with a black box, ie;

Helicopter blades when in the helicopter,
Most of the screen getting blocked when using iron sights,
Some foliage sometimes turning to black boxes.

This seems to happen randomly, but, it will remain there until the next map.

Also, after this happens, when you come out to the menu, the video playing in the background turns to being just a grey screen instead of the satalite vision.

This didnt happen before I formatted my PC, the only thing i think it can be is my GFX card drivers? (a friend using a different card but the same drivers has the same problem, and i was using older drivers before i formatted)

Intel P4 3.2Ghz HT "Prescott"
ATi 9800Pro IceQ
1Gb DDR400 ram (512Mb on each channel)
74Gb Raptor HDD

Im currently using the most up to date catalyst drivers.

Does anyone else here have this problem? And does anyone know if the drivers are the problem?

Yup, this happened to me when i had an old Radeon X600. Basically you either have very old ATI drivers or they have some how become corrupt.

If i were you, i would head to Program files\ATI\uninstallall and get rid of everything ATI.

Then dload the new catalyst 6.10 from here: http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

Problem solved...

Unless your card is overheating. In which case you need cooling... but i doubt thats it.... hopefully...

that happened to me with the NEW ati drivers, but the problem was fixed when i installed the old ones

I have the same problem. I thought it was something else, i'm going to reinstall the drivers.

I have downloaded the latest drivers, the problem has only been there since i formatted my computer. (before i formatted it, it was using older drivers and worked fine, after formatting i installed the newest ones and the problems started occuring)

I dont think its a hardware fault with the GFX card as it still does Doom3, HL2, CSS etc all fine.

If anything its more likely due to the latest drivers. A friend of mine with a different GFX card to mine (an X1800 Pro i think he has), is also having the same problem since he put on the newest drivers.

Cheers to the guys who pointed out they were also having these problems, ill try sticking on the older drivers, if i can find them (do ati keep older drivers up on the site?)
