PILOTS (helo and jet), need some advice on different games

I spend most of my BF2 hours in a jet or a chopper. I was wondering if there were any other great flying games that I should try out. So far BF2 is one of the only ones i know, and its the most fun to fly around here. Any other games you could all suggest?

ive always liked the flight simulator series. u can download modded jets/helis.

i got a hold of the newest from Microsoft but my AC'97 sound chip has a known conflict which renders the JS useless

edit: where can i get or learn more about the Flight Simulator series? Im tryin to find it but cant.

Here are the other combat flight sim games you can try:

-LOMAC pros: probably the best jet-era modern combat flight sim today cons:needs at least 3gig cpu, 1.5 gig ram and a really fast vidcard like 6600GT or higher.
-Ilyushin2- the best ww2 combat sim out there, great in multi player
-Falcon 4 Allied Force-uber realistic(avionics, weapons and aircraft systems, but otherwise, 'old' graphics engine) simulation of F-16, 700 page manual.. Con: incredibly difficult, like I've said, not so good looking graphics engine...
-Jane's USAF-another oldy but goody. I would recommend this above all, if you're kinda obsessed on ground-pounding thingy... Falcon 4 is also great for that matter, but got inferior graphics and quite complex to operate.

Once you tried the above sim, you'll soon realize that the jets in BF2 are actually crappy I'm a bit of a jet sim nut, but ironcally, I don't fly jets in BF2, I think being on foot or wheels is more fun. Besides, I already have jet sims for deadlier ground pounding

armedassualt (when they decide to release it...) has planes and choppers, their PR guy said you will be able to attack ground troops with them also. but its 3 or 4 months late already, probably see it at xmas or next march - june.

Flight simulator series comes with it's own manual, both in .pdf or paper print, either way, it serves it's purpose well.

Basically, it could be as simple as push the throttle forward, wait to get fast enough and pull back on the stick. Same thing you do in BF2.. At least that's how I mapped my joystick in BF2. However on FS series, you'll have addition realism options so you can't turn as tight as you can in BF2 if you use hardest settings. But you should enjoy the nearly infinite 'airspace' and hundred mile visibility not like in BF2, 'going AWOL, soldier?!' Hehe.

But don't expect any missile firing in FS, it's a civilian sim, not a combat sim, but still fun. You should get MSFS2004 for now, that's the current best FS series, the latest FSX, is still sketchy..

yea i think due to FSX being non-playable with my JS i might just have to go get an older version.

As mentioned the Il2/FB/PF ww2 flight sim is an EXCELLENT game. Bf2 flying just doesn't rate when compared - it is totally arcade.

Old warbirds with guns, cannons and bombs are a lot more exciting then "target acquired missile lock- fire -target desrtoyed"

I love the game Lock On. Its really good and really hard. I makes BF2 planes look like a joke.
