    Alright so..

    I have a 9600xt 256mb card...

I can run bf2 all med with 70fps with absolutely no movement.
It hits anywhere on average i'd say around 15-40fps. So it is playable, but I have to keep the resolution at 800x600..so seeing people is alot harder with all the jaggedness.

However in big situations, and alot of stuff happening, it dunks to a good 2fps for sure and lags like a massive turd.

    My full specs are
    p4 1.6ghz
    1.2gb ramm 400mhz 1gb and 256gb 266mhz
    9600xt 256mb

Well....the 7600gs isn't exactly the best card..but...I know its much better than my 9600xt 256 with a core speed of only 300mhz ..the 7600gs AGP with 400mhz and dual 400mhz ram (800mhz total)

I haven't been able to find all the specs of the 7600gs AGP though....so i'm not sure of its pixel shader performance and what not..

    so my question is..

Will it help alot with my games?..well more importantly BF2 for now?...Also I overclock my CPU from 1.6 to 2ghz ...so pretend im running with 2ghz as I would overclock it...

Even if it still won't let me play at high..at least to have a total smooth gaming performance would be great.

    thanx for any help.

you need to lower your settings, its stroking out the mb's in your vc

        Re: 7600GS 256mb AGP

        for sure it will help
also i plan on temporarly the 9800pro in my system to a 7600gs with 512mb of ram from what i gather the 512mb of ram gs offers performance similare to a 7600gt with 256mb of ram, i say similar but on the lower side of similar not better, so actualy id like to see what is the performance gain of a gs ounce its oc, so yes the 7600gs would be a major upgrade from your 9600xt but its performance would be hindered by your cpu

A 6800gt or an x800xt/x850xt would be better if you can find one cheaper. The 7600gs are a VERY far cry from the 7600gt, from what the reviews are saying.

You'll still get a nice performance bump going from a 9600xt, and if the price is right, then it'll be a good way to extend the life of your rig until the Core 2 hoopla settles down a little, and 7900gt's/x1900xt's get to be old (cheap) news.

how much money are u willing to spend on a card? i wouldnt go for a 7600gs..mmaybe make it a 7600gt and u got a nice card or maybe a 6800gt (which can easily oc to 6800ultra)
