  • Soundblaster Xi-Fi Extreme Audio problems!?!?

    Hi all!

I just got my beloved new audiocard, a Soundblaster Xi-fi Extreme Audio.
I installed it, have popped some music, works lovely, nothing wrong... TILL I start BF2. (Single Player mode)

I have a choice to choose between 3 things in the Audio options tab. (All tried with Medium settings)

    1. Software
    2. Hardware
    3. Creative Xi-fi

and then EAX on or off!

Naturally I chose Xi-fi, then it says it does not support that card. I tried with and without EAX enabled. same ****. I tried to load the game anyway but I get no sound.

I then chose Hardware + EAX, I get sound, but my FPS drops to 20 fps... normally I have around 80, and it laggs like hell... ok so I turn EAX off and try again. Same ****.

My last option, Software + EAX and without EAX I get no sound whatsoever, my fps is back to normal though.

Now what the ****? does anyone else got this problem? any tips? I got the card today, its a great card, brand new, state of the art. It should ****ing work.

    Please Help!

    My System specs:

    AMD 64 Athlon 3700+
2.5 gigs of ram DDR 440
    Nvidia 7600GT 256MB
AND my Creative SB Xi-fi Extreme Audio

Question for you? Are you using your speakers or a headset??? If you are using a USB headset (like a Platronics), then you wasted money on that awesome sound card! I had to disable my Creative AudigyII and use the Platronics as the sound device in BF2 setup and the headset works great!!! If I want to use speakers I have to disable the headset and reset the settings to the sound card... hope this might help you!

        Good Luck

                This the card you got,

If so send it back for a refund/exchange as it is nothing but a major POS. Creative should be shot and pi**ed on for ever releasing that card with the X-Fi name on it. All that card is is a re-badged SB Live 24 bit/Audigy SE, and does not have the X-Fi chip on it. That means no Game mode, no hardware sound of any kind, everything is done in software.

Yeah thats the card I got man... goddamn EA, I get better performance with the onboard Realtek AC 97 audio chip than with this... OK gonna return it tomorrow, thanks man, thanks alot, should I buy a X-fi Xtreme gamer instead? or should I boycott Creative all together?

ATM moment I'm on the fence regarding the XtremeGamer. On a first look at the card it doesn't really appear to be much more than the one you have, but I am finally starting to see some small reviews about the card and from what I am seeing the XGamer is basically supposed to be a stripped down XtremeMusic. From whta I am seeing the only difference between the XGamer and the XMusic is the connectors and the XGamer does DTS in software instead of hardware.

I did come across one thread on the Creative forums regarding the XGamer and BF2,

and he is having trouble with it.

So far this is the best write up I have found about the card,

situs judi slot online Klik777 merupakan agen judi online terpercaya yang menyajikan game lengkap pragmatic play, joker slot deposit pulsa tanpa potongan.

The Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer sound card makes the X-Fi chip available in a low-profile PCI format for small form factor or full-size PCs. Its enhanced connectivity includes an optical out and internal connectivity to audio jacks on the front panel of a PC for easy headphone and microphone access. Despite its reduced size, the Xtreme Gamer delivers the full power of Creative's award-winning X-Fi processor, including ultra-realistic CMSS-3D surround sound over normal headphones and hardware-accelerated Direct X, OpenAL and EAX 5.0 to give faster frame rates with cinematic sound.
So from the looks of that the XtremeGamer is basically a shrunk down XtremeMusic, minus the gold plated connectors. I think I would still hold off on getting one until seeing reviews from some of the tech sites (if they ever get around to it).

Yeah its a sneak version of Xtreme music alright, but it got the hardware accelerator for EAX 5.0, to be honest I loved the sound of Xtreme Audio when I popped music, not bad at all, good enough for me, Well I shipped it back today and I ordered the gamer version so, it better not Fcuk my fps up!
