Clan matches are a lot of fun; but there is one key factor that puts me off. It's actually the very sole reason why I choose to be more of a pubber than a clanner.

The fact that people are counting on you to always play at your best. Pressure is not fun.

With public servers, there is no pressure. If you mess up and your team loses; so what? People may *****, but there is no real substance to their complaints. However, with a clan, if you mess up and your team wins or loses; everybody gets into an uproar.

What happens if you win too often and people get a big head? What happens if you lose too often and people lose their head?

The clan reformations happen... People leave for another clan, or the leadership quits, or people start accusing each other of not working hard enough. The clan breaks up into splinters of itself, and then you're forced to learn a whole new set of names.

I'm sure people will tell me 'find the right clan'... yeah... right. There is no such thing, as individual egos will always defeat the clan collective as a whole in the end when people get bored, or 'too good' for their own team-mates. I'm willing to bet that the 'top clans' have at least reformed twice in their careers.

Urgh.

Then there is the Battlerecorder "Proof" where people will accuse you for hacking, just because you know how to instant-prone.

I didn't even know that there were such things as Aimbots until I joined TWL. I didn't even receive substantial proof of the existance of such hacks, until a video of Aimbots, and Wallhacks showed up on Total BF2 last week.

Urgh.

I'm glad you guys have fun in clans, but please don't thumb your nose at me because I don't find enjoyment in your area of expertise. Thats elitism, and it's what prevents many 'pubbers' from making the switch from Public Servers, to Private clans.

If you're interested in having fun, and not being 'the best', feel free to leave me an IM on Xfire. I'll gladly squad up with you. Pubbing is a thousand times more fun when you're playing with buddies.

No... I read it. Your example is a 30v30 'competition' you were in? Yeah... right. Retard.

For the record... you attitude is exactly the one I'm usually referring to, when talking about clanners. The constant 'I'm so leet, how can you possibly have something important to say' blathering.

Enter a real comp that has unlocks, and has more than two games a year. Then, you might be playing a game that lots of people are familiar with, and you find you aren't quite as 'leet' as you thought you were. Oh, and if you think I think I'm part of the best clan, or the best player, you're mistaken. There are lots of better pub and clan players in Australia than me.

I'm just saying I'm better than you.

I play the game in both pubs and clans, and that's why I know, the biggest contingent of whingers is always the clanners. Which is why we have no-unlocks in most of the competitions. Too many clan-whingers who don't want to play a competition using the weapons that EVERYONE ELSE uses. Typical moron-speak... "Hey, I can't win playing the game everyone else is playing, why don't I get all my mates together and ***** and moan until the competition is a game that only we like playing, and we want to practice at. Let's make sure we structure it so that the other 90% of the people have an immediate disadvantage as soon as they want to play in 'OUR' comp." Maybe, one day, you'll actually figure out how to play the game with ALL of the weapons. 'til that time, you're just another dweeb playing a game only a few select people play, instead of the hundreds of thousands of other people using ALL of functionality of the game.

hell, if you think that is competition, maybe you should allow steroids in sports. or **** it, just give one team guns and the other team knives and call it a fair game.

it throws the balance of the game off and is just plain retarded.

and im pretty sure that there wasnt a vote to not use unlocks. more common sense than anything else. if you want your unlocks that badly then rename yourself to xxXsniperelitekillerXxx, jump in your favorite ranked pub, grab your unlocked sniper kit, sit on top of a building in your main base with claymores at the top of the ladder, and request boxes for yourself all round, get 2 kills in an hour and think you are hot **** because you just attained the rank of super lieutenant 4 and got the gold sniper badge.

then come back to the totalbf2 forums and brag about the hot *** stats in your signature.

The lack of unlocks gives a severe disadvantage to the Special Forces kit. =(

I really hate the M4 and the AK-74U.

Anyhow... Lately in the many scrims and clan matches I've been in, I've only played against clans who've had nothing but Medics and Support in their squads... I wonder why.

It's just that large-scale competition can't require that everyone who wants to compete play 400 hours pubbing and pay extra money for expansions. We just play BF2Pro where our guns are modded to be much more accurate - no unlocks needed.

the specops kit isnt an infantry kit, its not meant to be and thats what all you guys use it as. the m4 and the ak74 are SUPPOSED to get raped by the assault and medic weapons. the main point of the specops kit is the c4 jihad jeeps, defending flags/positions.

So in your clanning wisdom; Spec-Ops aren't meant to be used in clan games, unless you want to blow up some tanks. I still use it though... Merely because laying C4 traps for enemy squads who're so close together that it's almost impossible not to kill every single one of them is fun for me.

I just wish I could at least use the Scar...

Oh well, at least I still have my QBZ-97. =(

Actually, yeah. Or defend flags with C4. Even with unlocked guns they're worse than medic :) Current discussion for changes in the next BF2Pro patch include an overhauling of that kit to make them more combat-worthy.

Every class by default is 'worse than the medic.'

However, the G36C and the Scar-L are godsends in single shot mode. On par with the G36E at the very least.

In simple comparison the M4 and the AK-74U are just too damned erratic irregardless of zoom. It feels like I'm handling a Sub-machine gun with them; and when you're against good players who're holding a M16A2 or an AK-101... you haven't got time to monkey around and hope that your shots hit.
