Larger server list on BT vs NTL

Hi can someone tell me why this is...

I have 2 broadband connections at home, 1 pc on each:
BT 1mb ADSL (through Netgear router)
NTL 2mb (through ethernet crappy NTL modem)

The list of servers in multi-player (with same filters applied) is much larger using the BT line than the NTL one (about 50% more).

I thought it may be DNS so set both PC's identically but got the same result ie more servers listed on the BT connected PC than the NTL one.
So question is, why is the server list smaller using NTL?

PS BF2 is same version / patch level etc etc.

Incidentally the BT line altho 1mb slower, apart from showing many more servers loads the list infinately quicker (almost instantly) than the faster NTL line that takes ages wtf - but that is another question.

I usually get just over 1000 populated out of 3000 if I untick populated on NTL, how many are you seeing on each?

try using qtracker and see how many servers you get.

Ok at around 2pm I got 2606 on BT (populated off, medium and large maps only)
Same filters on NTL I get 2184?
Haven't tried qtracker willdo later but i have tried ASE and xfire and they show less servers on NTL also.
        Any ideas why anyone?

(PS. loading the 2606 list with 1mb BT was 8 seconds, 2mb NTL with 2184 in list took 43 seconds arghhh. NTL is supposed to be 2x quicker, I guess that must be something to do with number of users on internet in my area.)

Well I just did a full refresh and got 2936 servers in 31 seconds. 4Mb ntl cable.

I dont think the problem here is the number of servers appearing after how long - but more "how come one PC returns a smaller list than the other if searching at the same time?".

From what I understand here there's two PCs running BF2 connected to seperate broadband connections - hitting "update server list" at the same time on both yields lower results on one (ntl) that the other (bt).

Apart from NTL being high contention toss (apparently) in the evenings, I can't think of any obvious reason for this if DNS has been ruled out.

Do any of the missing servers reappear on the NTL machine after a refresh? Or are they never listed?

Do the missing servers use a non-standard port that NTL may be filtering to a lower priority? Not sure howthe servers are discovered, maybe through gamespy with zero communication with the server itself. Not sure.

Mad Ad, unless we use same filters and do it at same time of day, your figure is irrelevant. I want to know why at exactly the same time does BT resolve a lot more servers than NTL.

b6x seems to get my question. b6x in answer to your questions:

Refresh resolves same number of servers.

I think gamespy stores list of available servers but don't really know.
