Punishing by default

I've only been playing for about 2.5 months. From the beginning I've taken a 'Forgive by Default' approach to being TK'd. I understand the game well enough to know that stuff happens in a firefight.

Certainly I've punished when someone blatantly kills me...but mostly I just forgive and move on.

I believe that's going to change. I am punished EVERY SINGLE TIME for inadvertant TK's.

You all know the story - someone drives their FAV into your tank, blows up, and punishes you. They run into your grenade. They're next to one of your mines when an enemy vehicle drives over it. Blah Blah Blah.

I have NEVER intentionally killed someone and most of the time my TK's aren't from stupidity...though occasionally I'll shoot first and ask questions later. (These I can understand getting punished on occasionally.)

But I've had it with being punished for 'game-isms' that list me as the culprit just because the truck I'm in blows up and kills someone next to me.

So I'm contemplating Punishing by default, since that seems to be the standard I'm experiencing in the game these days.

Anyone else noticing a definite lack of forgiveness lately?

Yeh, it's always been the same they will punish you even if it's their own fault or even if you say sorry. Sometimes i come across people that forgive but that's a needle in the sea...

I guess they are really angry and when someone TKs them accidently, they get even ore angrier and start cursing and shouting at their desk and hitting the table and punishing you still cursing at you :laugh:

When I started playing I punished most of the TK's. Then I went to a more forgiving approach (forgive accidental TK's). And then I began to forgive ALL TK's, even those blatantly on purpose.

But I've changed back to a more punishing "playstyle". Because I now chopper whore a lot, most, almost all I'd say, of the TK's I receive are made on purpose so I WILL punish.

I forgive most TK's crap happens....I don't TK intentionally and I know most TK's arn't intentional...The one that drives me crazzy though is the the guy you are activley engaged ina gun battle with and a team mate will jump in front of you and go prone then punish you for a TK....It was his ******* jumping in front a bullets that got him killed. I get pissed about it but I still live by the motto of do until others.

Don't join the masses, forgive unless blatent, no point punishing for the sake of it you just become one of the morons.

How come not all servers have the option to punish/forgive? Is this a server setting?

I love it when there's UAV over an enemy's flag and no one is on it so you go in an try and capture it. Only to be teamkilled by some complete moron throwing grenades.

My favorite though is while playing as a medic and someone obviously TKs you and then they pick up your medic kit and drop a few medic packs down, switch back to their original kit and keep going. I just want to reach through my screen and give them a big hug and say "You rock man!"

My favorite though is while playing as a medic and someone obviously TKs you and then they pick up your medic kit and drop a few medic packs down, switch back to their original kit and keep going. I just want to reach through my screen and give them a big hug and say "You rock man!"

i dont really care anymore as i dont think theres a point deduction difference between punsih and forgive

I've accidentally TK'd..been punished and then gone the extra mile to revive the guy after he punishes me. For him to TK me back...BF2 has so many morons in it...

Used to be I could count the number of punishes I've done on one hand....

The enormous amount of grenade spam nowadays has pushed my limits and I've punished a few times here & there. You think guys would look at their mini map and see my squad rolling into a flag area to take it before they start launching nades from 100' away.

However, I still forgive MUCH more than I punish.

Sorry I didn't explain that better. The guy TKs me and then grabs my dead medic kit to use it to throw himself a medic pack, but doesn't revive me.

Yes.

And it isn't 'some' - I get punished EVERY TIME except by clan-mates.

I say 'Sorry' every time but before I can even bring up the HUD to click it I've already been punished. I'm tired of being tolerant when tolerance isn't being shown by others.

If I'm at fault and I get punished I can live with that...even though most servers I play on have a 'Don't punish for accidental TKs' policy. Truth is virtually no one follows it.

Someone above posted one that happened to me yesterday. I'm firing down an alleyway in Grenadabad and this sniper comes up and plops down right in front of me. Not 50 meters out. Right in front of me so that I've got his azz in my face. The PKM is loud enough that I know he saw and heard me. Before I could let off the trigger he's dead and I'm punished.

So yes...I'm growing weary of being the 'nice guy' when all I get is punished for their stupidity or a game bug.
