    Good intention, bad solution.
I suggest taking into consideration just the score board at the end of the round.
If a player got a gold medal, does it matter that he's only a private?!
Each player is worth exactly his score. Balance the teams by the players score.
There are 2 strategies, which could be a server’s option:
    - the ‘humans’ aproach –
Mix teams with a fair amount of good and bad players.
    - the ‘bots’ aproach –
The best squads from the winning team should stay together, while the other non squad players and the worst squad(s) should switch to the loosing side.
It could be a small team of elite players against a high number of ‘bots’.
There is an exception: if the team with the most points is the loosing side, it shouldn’t be any change in players. The loosing team should try again.

Of course i dont complain nearly as much while im racking up the points but....
How about this. You create a squad on the sucky team, call it VOIP ONLY. Invite some other players into your squad, issue orders and objectives. Work as a team, and start owning back.

I;ve played a game where we cycled through 3 commanders, all crap. We kept getting owned by helis, flag capped out (but I retrieved one, everytime). And no squads.

I made a squad and told them what to do, no one went in teh air and no one went commander. I had no idea what to do, go air and have no flags / go commander and gain back no flags.

Sick of having a crap team sometimes.

The general tendency is for good/opportunistic pilots to go on PLA: I'm generally stuck on USMC getting baseraped on the carrier with the single alternative of spawning in the boat bay. For some reason, I tend to have little to no jet support regardless of where I go: I should start playing with jet buddies :)

u cant switch when there is more people on the other team. i always seem to get switched at the end of the round and can never switch back. its retarded.

Rank does not mean skill, but more often than not, a general will be more skilled than a private.

The fact is, rank means nothing. I have two accounts, one of which is only about 6000 points, so that would throw any system like that out the window.

The best way to solve clan-stacking is to completely randomize the players at the very beginning of the round.

Until such a time... if you wanna solve team stacking? Join a clan.

On our server, [UTAC], we see this quite often. We've found that if the other side has a good commander it makes a huge difference, and if they simply work as squads they'd be able to put up a decent fight. But what we usually see is the good players getting smacked around because they are up against squads working together at the direction of a commander who's spotting. If only one squad is really working together, you can't hold bases, just take them. To be competitive you need a couple of squads taking bases and working together. It helps a lot if you can coordinate air cover with ground action. ...you get the idea.

Got me a bit confused all I do since I know what you are talking about is go on the "good" team and rape the "crappy" team. I'm supprised that the people on the "crappy" team acctualy play as long as they do with all the spawn raping and what not don't see how they can stand it.

Re: Solving the problem of team stacking

It might be worth a shot, I don't think it could hurt. Might actually help.

Rank can mean time spent and can equate to skills and knowledge.

                      But......

Time spent doing what? Sitting on empty servers, sitting Votnics half in the water to get repair points?

I've never seen an officer and been totally amazed with how the guy/girl was playing. I've seen officers forming squads then getting in a two seat Chopper. With hundreds upon hundreds of hours in you'd think labeling the squad would be second nature by then. I've seen officers form squads then rush every spawn like a dolt only to get killed and have the entire squad walking once again from pointA to pointB. I've seen officers that just plain suck. Let's face it, some people are just not good. God bless em for putting in the time, but they may just not have the natural inclination for FPSs.

Rank is hit or miss at best when trying to equate it to a person's ability to win a round or work as a good teamate. How many hours does it take to accumulate all the trinkets? There's very few badges that while earning them make you a better team player or better at influencing a round through strategic planning. They're mostly individual acheivements, and while in the process of attaining them one does develope certain skills, very few of those skills relate to teamwork or devising a winning strategy. If some one went for all the carrots on all the strings in BF2 first, then started trying to play as a teammate I doubt he'd be very good at that particular aspect of the game.Certainly not as good as a person with only a few 100 hours, but yet those hours were spent trying to help out for a team win.

The only time I find "stacking" overwhelming is when it's a clan. It's there house so it's their perogative if they wish to play that way. I like a challenge even if it means getting the snot kicked out of me. But it can go too far and be pointless sometimes.

Perhaps Clan servers could implement a an auto-balance that keyed in on the clan tag prefix. They could turn off the option when they felt like working on strategies, or having a scrim, or just plain sadistically beating up on pubbers.

Is not going to happen. And if DICE tries to fix it somehow to resolve this issue, they will just introduce bugs into the game.

We've tried everything... swapping teams at the end of the round, randomizing teams... nothing seems to work well enough. Then people complain about squads being messed up. All we do now is just move people over or ask them to move.

                              team stacking IS a problem
                              with few solutions
hehe, sounds like the OP was about our server
                              typical night =
1 4 star, 2 3 star, 3 full col, 2 lt col and the rest are captains
BUT, not only are we high rank - we play with TONS of team work
and as a result - we crush teams
hey - not trying to brag - just letting you know
even after a while it gets boring
now, often 1/2 of us play 2142 or even jump to the other team to help out
the solution to help better players on the bad team:
try to form squads, USE voip or often free ventrilo or free team speak
or as a last resort - change servers
