I never played FH for BF42, my system at the time could not handle it. I've also never played the BF2 expansion packs, though I plan on installing SF soon. I think that I've played all the BF 2142 maps, but none merit mention here. Anyways, here's my top 9, as you can see I'm more a fan of the BF42 maps.
1. Midway (BF42) - Map has it all. Outstanding naval combat, great aerial combat, and a fierce firefight on the land. And subs too!!!
2. Market Garden (BF42) - Good aerial and infantry combat, supported by endless armor of the Germans. One of the few paratrooper maps which added another twist to the game.
3. DC Lost Village (BF42 mod) - Para or no para, also excelled as a CTF map. This is back when flying the heli was a true skill.
4. Mashtuur (BF2) - Great balance, IMO the best map for infantry combat for BF2.
5. Monte Cassino (BF42 exp pack Road to Rome) - Very underrrated, lots of fun charging up the hill to the final battle in the castle. Unique twist as cannons for the Germans do not respawn.
6. Operation Husky (BF42 exp pack Road to Rome) - Another underrated map, very large and great flag placement.
7. Bocage (BF42)
8. Liberation of Caen (BF42) - Fun map, great battles in the city.
9. Strike at Karkand (BF2) - Yes, this map has now gone mostly to poop, but undeniably it was well made in the beginning.
