BF2 Patch 1.4

I have not played in a while so I was on 1.1.27... with everything working fine. I recently downloaded the full patch 1.4 and installed it and the game no longer starts. By taking the game out of full screen mode I saw that when I ran the bf21.exe that is in the game directory it says that it is 1.1.27... while it is trying to start up, just before it goes away.

I have also lost my key otherwise I would have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and patching from original.

So my 2 questions are can I retrieve my key some how, or do I even need it to uninstall and reinstall?

And does anyone know why it says it is trying to run 1.1.27...?

the patch did not isntall correctly, re patch using 1.4 full.

the only way i know of getting a new key is calling up EA, proving to them you originally bought BF2 and they give u a new key.

Proving to them like your name , address, pop as in receipts, **** like that.

if u registered u game with EA then u can find ur cd key somewhere in ur account

and also, im guessing that when u patched to 1.4, u had renamed bf2.exe for performance reasons, and when ur patching, it wants to patch to bf2.exe, but it cant find it so it doesnt properly patch it
