Crew Specialist Ribbon

i have checked the forums and there are a number of threads on this, but i was wondering if anyone can tell me for sure, if the Crew Specialist Ribbon has to be earned in flight, meaning in a helicopter, as some stats sites specifically mention air crew.

what i am after is for a couple of people who have earnt this ribbon to simply reply stating how they won it, in terms of what type of transport they were in

p.s. contrary to some stats sites, i understand that the below are the actual 'unnoficial' requirements;

IAR
1 driver special ability point
20 driver kill assists
10 kills

Got it the other night playing on Iron Gator. I was gunner in the chopper and had an excellant pilot fly me around the boat. Was a surprise to get as I wasn't expecting it.

any vehicle will do, i dont actually have it, but some of my mates do and they told me how to go around getting it. the best advice is to get in an apache on gator or ghost town. the hardest part is definatly trying to get the driver special ability point

Same here, gunner+Iron Gator= lots of kills, and a lovely ribbon.

ok, well i just got it finally. so i thought i better just state how etc etc,

i took ppls advice and went to iron gator, was first person on server, so ran onto the mec sf heli-pad entered helo in gunner position, waited for a pilot, turned out, as some of you guys mentioned, he was excellent pilot, he got more kills than i did with his missiles over my gunning (mind you i am not good in the air at all - my stats show this) he was entering the ship via the load doors and i got my 10+ kills, loads of kill assists from his missle shooting accuracy, and not at all sure how i got a driver abbility assist, as it didnt textualize it on screen, and i was never driver, i was engy-gunner.

incidentally i also got helo specialist ribbon 5 minutes later too.
