SMotC is awarded to the highest ranking Sergeant Major of the month. Unfortunately, lots of people with many points+Sergeant Major never updated to 1.2. So the current SMotC is probably some guy who hasn't played since January 2006. If EA just forced an update of every single player in the database, the SMotC system would make sense.
