A panzerfaust could make a tank cook with one shot to the rear in 1942. Now take BF2. A pilot can tell what AA gun is a threat and bomb it before a good lock and shot can be made. And when the good lock and shot is made the missiles are worthless. Two AT rockets to the rear of a tank and it might start cooking.

Now don't play the teamwork card. I know teamwork can defeat things in BF2. The problem is you need half your team to take out one tank. It should be more like one tank can be defeated by one guy. Two or three tanks and then you will need team work to defeat their teamwork. But needing teamwork to defeat one lone wolf vehicle whore is wrong.
Technology evolved since 1942, game is set on 2007. It is not suppose to be as easy and point and click.

You don't expect a single infantry unit to have as much power as a tank, a chopper or a jet, do you?

      Damn CS players. :hmm:

100% agreement--sever side option to turn off the jets. We didn't need infantry only--just needed the jets gone. And the poll seems to be pointing in that direction (by quite a lot actually).

Head up never. But in certain situations I do. When the single infantry is 30 feet behind a tank with an ANTI TANK ROCKET. Or in 2007 are we issuing rockets that need three reloads to kill a tank in its weakest point? When a single infantry has a lock on a jet coming straight at or straight away with ground AA and they just deployed flares. O that's right its 2007. ground AA only locks on jets withing 100 meters. If they go above 500 feet in the air they can't be locked. We really wasted money building jets that fly 70,000+ to avoid it. O and I have about ten hours into CS two years ago. And about 2000+ in BFV and BF2. A CS player I think not.

IO mode gives 64 people an equal chance to kill each other. With vehicles you get 4 or 8 people that can dominate the battlefield. That is all well and good in real world 2007 fighting. Heck I hope one of our choppers can destroy all the enemy. But for a fun and balanced game it doesn't work.

Added- that is an interesting link in your sig.

It shouldn't be a server setting (i.e. where all maps would be affected) - simply introduce the solution from Desert Combat where they had different versions of the maps (with the suffix "Day 2", "Day 3"..) where the most powerful vehicles were removed. It could be fun to have a few maps with no airpower, maybe a few without armour in the map rotation - it's an easy way to make the gameplay more varied...and there is even more need for this in BF2 than in DC as the vehicle vs infantry balance if so much worse now.

..and no - I have no desire to go back to CS. I prefer the infantry-combat in the Battlefield games.

I hope they implement it, although I'd be happy to have jets replaced for one extra attack chopper for each team + one AA vehicle for maps that don't got it and one extra per team that already do, choppers fight in groups anyways so whats all these maps with one chopper per team. Real armys deploy their helicopters in groups and choppers are way way easier to kill than jets. Only thing that kills a good jet pilot is a another good jet pilot and how often do you get on a server that has two pilots whoring for each team.

Nah that just dul, It will result in maps like wake being lang vehicles only and making it harder for the USMC team to cap a bace without the assistance of a jet to take out tanks awaiting their arrival.

You're over complicating the reason they implemented IO

There was no IO mode in the other BF games because there were no global stats.

                  Global stats="My name in lights"
"My name in lights" draws all the stat whores from other non-bf Games come over to BF. (We'll just call them non-BF'ers)
Non-BF'ers=Whiner cry babies about how the BF gameplay is.
Non-BF'ers become a 'vocal majority' because they can't get their stats quick enough and feel that the vehicles are ruining the game.
EA incorporates IO mode to pacify this 'vocal majority'.

                  Simple.

                    What ??

Been playing since July 05... I enjoy the IO maps. Seems like there is enough of both types , vehicle/air and IO only, for players to find their preferance.
I dont understand why all the upheavel...if you dont like IO mode, take your toys and play somewhere else, like a vehicle server...which there are plenty.

I like IO and I hate CS. Go figure.

I also like Vehicles. Depends on the situation/map.

"No vehicles" is completely ridiculous. When's the last time you ever saw a battle anywhere in the world without vehicles??????????

Let's face it, the initial excitement about BF1942 was it's exceptional realism quality, with a decent attempt to add in all the various elements (and vehicles) typical to that era. 1942 worked nicely.

BF2 worked great as well. My only complaint was about imbalanced air power. Maybe, as stated, just give AT kits some Stingers. That solution mighta worked ok.

But this IO stuff is for the birds. This has ruined BF2. A real shame............

I found No Vehicles a somewhat preposterous mode. I enjoy it a bit, but it's not as fun as having to jump for cover from that big bad tank.

But a no aircraft mode? Ridiculuous if you ask me. Just more smurfs complaining for a nerf because they get owned by aircraft. Here's a tip: Go back to your 24/7 IO City Maps servers. These people tend to ruin rounds on air maps because they get in a jet, get shot down, then spend the entire round bitching about it. Eventually they get kicked, cry, then post on forums about "OMFG THOSE STUPID AIRWHORES I THINK WE NEED A NO AIRCRAFT MODE CAUSE I SUCK AT BF2 AND I DONT WANT TO LEARN OH MOMMY CAN U CHANGE MY DIAPER?!"

Also, honestly, why would you want to play IO in anything asides from competitive play? This game has horrible hit detection and stupid random deviation. Not to mention the majority of IO players are G36E-toting noobs, which makes it even less fun.

The Upheaval is that the BF series has always been a vehicle centric game. Meaning...It's all about the vehicles.
They've been a core part of this series since day 1.
The attraction of BF1942 was that not only could you fight with a gun but you could jump into any vehicle you wanted at any time. That's what made this series what it is.

For people to come here in its 3rd rendition and try to make this game something that it's not is utterly ridiculous. Once again I'll blame it on the Global Stats because other than new graphics and 'modern' enhancements to gameplay that is the biggest difference in BF2 from the other series.
It's what attracted all the 'kiddies' who want to see 'who is the best' and have their name in lights.

The most famous postings in my mind are the ones that stated "Vehicles ruin Karkand!".

That is the most ridiculous and most CS'ish statement anyone could have ever made to prove my point.

The way you guys are acting, its as though all vechiles had been permanently removed from all servers!! FFS its just a side option!! EA/DICE are trying to plz as many people as possible and it has worked! if you dont Like IO then dont play it! Why keep whining about it?

Especially hurricane, its like get a grip man, the world still exists!

I personally enjoy playing both, depending on what mood i'm in.
TBH it seems the serial whiners in here are all the Tank, Heli and Jet whores who dont have as many people to spawn rape and camp.

The game is meant to be fun, let others enjoy it as they wish!

But it's ruining the game. It's no longer realistic at all. Vehicles ARE the way of battle, especially nowadays.

Plus, since IO, basically all you see served up is mostly Karkand or Jalalabad, with snipers and nade spammers. Boring......................

What's next, BF4142: space warfare with no space ships?? LOL

Or perhaps we should all run around and beat each other to death in the WNO "wet noodle only" option.
