OK. So I'm building a PC, and have no experience whatsoever.

This is what I'm going to buy.

Motherboard: ASUS P5LD2 SE/C
Processor: INTEL PENTIUM D 945 3.4GHz/800MHz
Hard-drive: WESTERN DIGITAL 250GB SATAII 8MB
Memory: Kreton / Starex DDR2 1GB PC-5300 CL5
Video-card: CLUB 3D GEFORCE 7600GT 256 MB
Power-supply: SIRTEC 420 W ATX
Soundcard: SB Live! 24-bit
CD/DVD: LG DVD+/-RW 16X DUAL LAYER

That costs about 900 euros. I think all that is compatible. What do you say? Am I right?

And second. When I get my PC put together, I need to install XP, right? And after that the anti-virus. Where I can get anti-virus-programs? Can I copy my old one, or what shall I do?

try and get a core 2 duo cpu and motherboard instead, its cheaper and faster.(e6300)

Forget it he is not going to buy neither core2dou nor ATI since it is more expensive in Finland

To original poster do not buy this SB live it is worthless ur onboard sound can do it fine unless u r going to buy an XFI xtreme music + get atleast a 500W power supply (550 would be nice)

I would replace the Prescott for a AMD ATHLON 64 X2 3800+ AM2 ( very good of you want to overclock ) and the motherboard for a ASUS M2N-E GREEN SOCKET AM2 NF570 ULTRA AUDIO GBLAN PCIE SATA RAID ATX. It's the same price but a little better ( in my opinion ).

For the memory, I never heard of this company... Is it good?

You don't need the soundcard because the onboard sound is good enought. Don't waste money on this card.

You don't need a 500W or 550W power supply. 420W is good enought for this configuration...

Also, if you are looking for a computer case, you can buy a Antec Sonata II because it's coming with a 450W power supply and it's very quiet.

harddrive ... getting 2? set up as raid 0 plus id get some 16mb buffers
memory ... never heard of company
vid card fine
power supply ... id go for a more trusted brand plus 500 or 550W
soundcard ... dont need
cd/dvd ... is an ok drive but wont do -RDL burning, pioneer DVR-111D (oem) is a good cheep drive very fast and burns everything

plus anti-virus i am running anti-vir persional edition its free, updates everyday and ive never had a problem with it at all, even fixed a few mates computers where other anti-virus' had failed http://www.free-av.com/
