Future of EA/Dice

I bet EA/Dice are already thinking up they’re next game/mod using the same engine, if not already starting development. I’m pretty sure they’re already working on their “booster packs” or whatever you want to call them now (if they're not already done), but I definitely think they are working on either a sequel to 2142 or a new idea using the same engine (with minor tweaks).

BF2 got good reviews and made a ton of money. BF2142 seems to be getting good reviews and will probably also make a lot of money. It’s pretty much just a fancy mod, yet people are still giving it good reviews and paying money for it. Why are the community/reviews supporting this?

What does/will EA make out of this? They are going to milk this engine as long as they can, while they can. The “sheep” are still shelling over their money for half-assed work. Why not spend as little as possible in development, since you’ll still make a great profit and the less money going to development, the more money in their pockets. Don’t you see that you’re feeding this behavior? If you don’t support this crap, they will be forced to actually make a “quality” game and might actually have to support the community. :shock:

Dice or technically EA now haven't announced any new PC titles but that is not to say that ideas aren't being thrown around the table.

Next step in the BF franchise is BF: Bad Company for XBox 360 and PS3

As for bad quality products, BF2 was pretty good apart from the support (I still blame Dice Canada) quality wise. BF2142 however I refuse to dish out money for on the principle of bad support from Dice after BF2. Plus it doesn't look that good and IMO does have spyware.

What is funny, DiCE is not even making BC, it is a third party. I am wondering whom will be writing the patches for 2142. DiCE is possibly evaluating its direction right now, because it is quickly painting itself in a corner with FPS style games and might not make it back to the old race car games it built.

I have never really been impressed with DiCE's ability to code compared to Valve, Crytek or Id...and Crytek is a young company too and are shining example of what a small team with real talent can still pull off. And DiCE is a small company too. BF1942 was full of bugs also if anyone remembers...but DiCE still makes games fun though; in the end.
