Returning Battlefield 2142 - How To
I haven't purchased the game myself, nor do I have any intention of doing so. Im saving myself the trouble from a crap rehash. Hate aside, I thought I'd let those of you that did purchase the game in on a little secret.
See when you purchase a computer game from say; Target, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Best Buy or any other retail outlet you are pretty much poop out of luck once you open the box up and install the game. Copyright laws deny such a return policy.
So you bought the game and wasn't impressed at all, or something else just made you very angry about the title and you want to get your money back.
Well here is how you do it.
First you need to go and contact EA Games Customer Support and let them know that you do not agree with the EULA and would like a refund. They'll send you instructions on how to box everything back up. Once you send the game off they should send you a new sealed copy back. You lose out on the shipping costs but you will get a majority of your monies back.
Now this only works if you've managed to keep your original reciept from the store that you purchased 2142 from. I suggest purchasing from Frys, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target or any other place that you can physically walk into. Online retailers may be a little more tricky because they like to charge restocking fees, and they can run anywhere from 10-20% of the original cost. Not good because your margin of returned monies has just shrunk even more.
The reason why not agreeing with the EULA works is because this is an End-User Licensing Agreement (located inside of the game manual). It contains lots of blah blah and technical stuff but you have to agree to it, if not, you are eligible for a full refund. It states that within the EULA itself. The problem is, most EULA's are located inside the box and the only way to read them is to open the box!
