Ping spikes lately?

Is this caused by 2142? Has anyone else noticed this?


In EVERY server I have been in lately, I have noticed pings that looked normal and then spiked to an excess of 200..


My ping says 40-70 most of the time, but lately it has been spiking like crazy... I have noticed this from about 80% of the people in the server also.. so I KNOW it isn't JUST me...



I have been going CRAZY trying to figure this out.. it's so annoying to be just running or doing something then you start teleporting backwards and **** like that... SO annoying. Sometimes it lasts for a long time.. other times it's in spikes.. there is about 20 seconds in between each spike.

I have a cable connection, and normally average 30-60 ping on insomnia servers, or other TX/VA/GA/FL/NY server...(any east coast server..)

But it still happens.

Yea I've noticed it on just about every server I've been on lately. Even the one I get good pings. I figured it was just me though since I have DSL.

yep i notice this too after playing bf2142.
But i'm sure 2142 has nothing to do with this!

(maybe 2142 so clear and smooth no lag spikes (no bugs yet)so we forgot about old laggy bf2 style? ) lol

Used to be good...


Now it's an ultra-nerf of what it used to be.

I don't like shooting at people with a support gun for 10 seconds just to kill them...

Or take 2 camera missles to blow up armor.

I myself haven't noticed it as an issue. I will pay more attention to my pings and see if I notice anything.

Actually I started getting ping spikes after 1.4, then the hated 'there is a problem with your connection', at which point I shout at bf2 that there is no problem with my connection. Ironically this always happens when I'm about to pull of a perfect head shot. Why? then comes the 'your connection to the server has been lost' or 'you have been kicked reason high ping'. I haven't touched my internet settings for a year and never had problems with my connection before 1.4, so... check the tech support forum

I get ping spikes quite often with 1.4, and it's highly annoying. Not to mention the annoying patch-related FPS halving. A combination of stupid programming faults has caused me to reject opportunities to play bf2 on my free time nowadays, unfortunately.

This has been hapening to me alot too. It's annoying when i'm shooting a tv missile and miss coz of this lagg.

Noticed lag earlier while playing on the LBC server. I figured it was purely on my end but this could possibly explain it now. Thanks for bringing up!

this happened to me to after 1.4 but i found out it was my firewall causing the spikes. so I shut my firewall down while playing and I never get any spikes.
