    I Seriously Need Your Help!

    I am constantly getting the Blue Screen Of Death every couple of rounds in BF2. The culprit file is nv4_disp.dll which seems to relate to my video cards. This has only started happening very recently, ever since I uninstalled and re-installed my Audigy 4 sound card drivers.

    Now I have done the basics such as uninstall and re-install video card and sound card drivers. I have used Nvidia versions 91.47 and even beta ones 95.97 but it is still happening.

    I have a dual core CPU but before anyone starts saying that BF2 doesn't like dual core, I have been playing for well over 250 hours in BF2 with no issues in the past.

    My specs:

    AMD Dual Core +4400
    2Gb Corsair Matched Ram
    2 x Leadtek 7800GTX in SLI
    Asus Board

    I have checked these forums and some people have had the same issue with this particular BSOD, but not many answers have been forthcoming. I am hoping that I get lucky with some advice.

    Thanks in advance...

    revert back to an older version before 91.47?

    from browsing google;
    The 91.47 is truly the worst driver that was released per my believe... it screwed up my system 100% angry.gif and I went back to the 91.31 level to get things under control again" & "92.91 btw. is much better then 91.47

      Backup everything you want and format it is always the safest way to go. My friend did the same thing once when he unistalled his sound card driver the pc acted crazy but everything was solved when he formated so try it

        I just used a program called drivercleaner pro. I have reinstalled 95.97, going to do a full virus scan and defrag. If this doesn't work, I'm gonna THROW IT OUT THE FRIGGIN WINDOW! Then I'm going to go outside, pick it up and if it is still working, I will format the machine.....

          Make sure to run a ram test and also try to get a test that will test your video card memory. You could be getting some corruption from bad ram.

            Thanks roucious. Any ideas on an app that would do those things?

            Also I did re-install BF2 and still getting the same problem. I really want to avoid formatting.

                  Thanks HIV I'll try those things.

                  @ ConscriptVirus: Yeah I uninstalled the nvidia drivers, jumped into safemode, used drivecleaner pro, then launched windows and installed new drivers.

                  I installed a little patch last night called nv4_disp.dll loop fix. It didin't do much, but I now received an error MEMORY MANAGEMENT. Microsoft site says it is related to my video card.

                  What's weird though is, I can play any other game with no bluscreen, yet BF2 causes a crash.

                  I also just noticed this on the MS site:

                  To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product Support Services telephone numbers and information about support costs, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

                  I have to PAY for a hotfix? You kidding me?

                    Re: I Seriously Need Your Help!

                    It's now 4 days without BF2 and I feel like slitting my wrists

                    I gotta format, I just can't be f'd!

                    * EDIT *

                    OK... After some advice from friends and some testing, it looks like one of my two 7800 GTX cards is having an issue. After taking the power cable out of one of the cards, it seems to now have stopped the BSOD's.

                    Does anyone know the symptoms for a stuffed video card? And how would the place I purchased from test to see if it is faulty?

                    Thanks again.
