the card is fine but every once in a blue moon something like that happens even on starcraft... It just means that i need a new one i guess.

those look like artifacts....is ur video card overheating since artifacts are one of ht most common side effects of overheating

i have a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 but i dont think it is a heating issue

oh man, i have a long story about artifacts. Long story short, i had a little bit of faluty memory that wouldent rear its head unless i ran textures at max and that chunk of memory was reached, otherwise it wasent touched.
Does HalfLife2:Lost coast play well on your system? (if you have it)

^ i had a fx 5200 and i guess it can play lost coast but on low settings...if i tried med/high settings, the fps would hover around 20-30 idle and then when i started going around that map, it dropped

Probably some bad video ram or ram dac. I would test my ram with Memtest86 or something like that. If it comes back clean. Reload video drivers, blow out dust and make sure fan is spinning good. Still have the problem replace video card.
