BF2 didnt support 1280 * 1024 when it was initially launched, so you could force the resolution in the Target script in your BF2 shortcut on your desktop.
I have no desire to try this, but I would imagine that the process would be the same:
right click the BF2 shortcut on your desktop- click on Properties
In the Target field add the following " 1 +szx 640 +szy 400"
Your target should end up like this (assuming you didnt change the application directory during install) "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 640 +szy 400"
If it runs at all it will look like crap- if your pc cant run BF2, BF1942 is a much better game & you can pick it up these days for peanuts -

thanks for the tip my comp plays it just fine got a 6600gt installed just wondering if it could be done when i try it game just kicks back to desktop just was trying to see what fps rate ran at that resComment
