It seems that EA only shipped PC-DVD versions of 2142. That's retarded. I went to GameStop and walked out with the last non-reserved copy of the game thinking I'm the luckiest. Hah. I got half way down the street and read the top of the box.. "PC DVD". Crap. Refund. Circuit City: "Released yesterday, but coming soon. Our computers don't know what that game is." Best Buy: "Yeah, they only shipped us DVD versions, and I'm paid minimum wage so I can't tell you when or if they are going to ship us a CD version."

a dvd drive is really cheap, if you can afford the game you can afford a dvd drive too.

Buy this Its $30, so like $35-$40 after you pay for shipping, or find the same drive at Best Buy for around the same price. It costs less than the game and it saves you from having 1000000 CDs

Most UK PC games have shipping on DVD for just less than two years. Get with the times, considering Blue-ray and HD-DVD are now being considered as new possible media for DVD players you can imagine PC games to follow suite shortly.

It's a little bit slower but it comes in retail packaging with Nero and WinDVD 6. There are several DVD/CD Burners in that price range at Newegg, and you can get a stack of 50 DVD+Rs for ~$10.
