question about performance

Hi, before I ask just wanted to say whats up to everyone since its my first post
anyho Im running battlefield 2 with everything on high at 1600x1200 and it runs pretty good except sometimes on a map like sharqi its pretty skippy if theres alot of people in it. now i think it has to do with my processor but i just wanted to know what you guys thought
specs: its a dell :\
video card : ati radeon x1800gto
sound : sb live
processor : pentium 4 2.8
ram : 1.25 gb
hd : 80 gb
mobo : cant seem to find anything on the mobo since dells a pos
just incase you wanted to know what the base was its a Dell Dimension 4700 and i added some things to it. thanks

Increase the ram to 2gb and you will be fine

I have a crappy Emachines with a 5500 and 256 ram

you wouldn't beleive how laggy it is

ur processor is a little slow compared to nowadays cpus but its not worht the upgrade since ull prob have to upgrade ur mobo as well to use a decent cpu

if ur going to upgrade ram....get at least 1.5..and 2 gigs would be nice

I'd really like to know how you can comfortably play with those settings????

My specs are as follows

P4 3.0 w/HT
nVidia 7800 GS
3 gig Corsair XMS
SB Audigy 2-ZS
500 watt PS

I have everything on medium (Geometry and TF are on high) with 2x AA at 1024x768 and it runs nice but as soon as I jack everything up to high I get unbelievable lag/jerkiness (with a ping of no higher than 30)!

My PC is also a Dell (Dimension 8300).

Sorry for HJ'ing the thread but I too would like some advice on the matter!

As far as your deal...like the other guys have said more RAM would help and a possible processor.

Depends on how you personally find it comfortable

Remeber old consoles like the N64 and PS1 used to run some games at 10-15 frames a second but i dont remeber thinking this game is "laggy"

for me know when its lower than 50fps however im fine until i go to around 25pfs where it becomes uncomfortable for my eyes

haha ^^ that reminds me of the times when i use to play perfect dark and all i remembered was how fun it was and when i played it a few weeks ago...it was wicked laggy that i just quit

lol perfect dark, i always wanted that game for my N64 - i had goldeneye though which rocked!
