Online Login Server & Multiplayer problem

OK so I checked, and didnt see anything in this forum that would really fall under this problem, so here it goes. I just bought the game, installed it, and got an online password. When I start up the game (patched to 1.4) I can choose who to login as. If I select the online login, it goes to the connecting to online screen, but then sits there. Indefinately as far as I can tell. Sometimes hours later it makes it to the main menu, but as soon as I select multiplayer, more huge slowdowns occur and I cannot even browse the servers let alone update the list.

I have tried opening all ports, and even DMZing my computer to no success

    any hints?

I cannot run this without my router if that is what you mean (Im wireless) but I am running this on a p4 2.8 with 1.5 gigs of ram and a radeon 9800 pro 128mb

I thought that the firewall may have been blocking the login to the account server, thats why i tried to fiddle with it. If it helps I have never had this problem with any other battlefield games before....

BF2 isnt like previous battlefield games its like a warzone just to get it working moderatly well,,

in your router there is an option for DMZ same with opening ports neither of which you need to do, i havent on mine and i dont see any improvments.

but it is odd for a slow login for 1st time use,
