  • Building a PC from separated components.

Yeah, I'm trying to build a new PC form separated components.

    So, what will I need?

    Motherboard:
    Asus P5B I965P S775 Core 2 Duo SATA2 Socket 775
    Hard Drive:
    WESTERN DIGITAL 250GB SATAII 16MB
    Processor:
    INTEL PENTIUM D 945 3.4GHz/800MHz
    Memory:
    Kreton / Starex DDR2 1GB PC-5300 CL5
    Video-card:
    Inno3D 7950GT 512MB DDR3 PCI Express
    Power Supply:
    XION 500W PowerReal SILENT PSU
    Box:
    Miditower ATX

That's pretty much everything, I guess.

    I still need:
    - Wires and Cables
    - Soundcard
    - CD/DVD-drives
    - AntiVirus-program
    - Windows XP

So, with those I should be able to build a whole new PC?
    Comments, please?

    so custom building,

you might need some thermal compound(only a few quid) if the Cpu doesnt already have some onit, but good to have around.

with the motherboard you should get cables for the Harddrive/cd/dvd drive and a bag of screws and mounts for attaching the motherboard to the case,

build the pc on a desk and be sure to earth yourself 1st (touching something metal usually does the trick) to avoid electrostatic discharge (it will fry your motherboard), if your that worried about doing something wrong you can buy an anti-static wrist band that you hook up to the case

    other than that very nice

^Anti-Static wrist band, it is on the safe side but not needed. I've put together PC's and put parts into a PC without one.

No idea what prices are like in Finland. Anyway I take it your have speakers and a monitor?

Also I'd upgrade to 2GB RAM some point later if you want to max out BF2 and other new games.

Yeah I've got speakers and monitor.

So I don't need anything else then?

          thats all you need,

all the minor things cables/wires/screws as i said should come with each component if they dont then you will have to take a trip to the nearest computer shop,

take your time when building it, worst thing you could proberly do is rush you might break/forget something.. ive done that before forgetting to put the heatsink on the cpu before switching it one lol

for only a little more you could get an ATI Radeon X1950 XT-X
            a much, much better card.

and make sure that cpu is compatible with a core 2 duo mobo (as your cpu IS NOT one of those.)

Hi. I would replace the pentium D for a INTEL CORE 2 DUO E6400 and you will need 2GB of ram to use the full potential of the video card.

                  Mm OK.

I think I'll stick with the GeForce, here in Finland ATI's cost 50-200 €uros more...

And I've used my budget, lol. That's still a pretty decent PC? I mean those components.

                    floppy disk!

yeah I know, you dont really need one....until you need one and dont have one.

They are cheap and youd kick yourself if you didnt order it with the other bits cuz youd have to pay for delivery ordering one on its own.

                      yes,

with that motherboard you can upgrade it in the future when you have spare cash to spend

                        OK Good.

So, that will be my new PC.

Well, first gotta order those parts, then put all together, install WinXP, antiviruses etc.

Oh yeah BTW, I don't really know how to install XP/AntiVirus. Can I just copy them somewhere, i.e. my old computer, and then install them to my new PC?

I think I'm gonna get somebody to install those programs and put those parts together, just in case. I don't want to break my new PC lol.

Hmm i would buy 7900GTO or x1900XT 256mb instead. 7900GTO is same as buying 7900GTX
