BF 2142 demo Fails(or just won't work)

So Idecided to give the demo for 2142 a shot despite all the negative comments about it and see if it's any fun. After waiting an hour and some minutes for the download, and taking care of the other stuff to get it running, I try to start if up only to get a "can not find component" message saying I don't have direct X 9 installed or that it can't find it.

Now I'm thinking "ugh, special forces all over again..." becuase I know
I have Direct X 9, so I remove the demo and download it again.

The same message comes up.

So then I remove it again and make certain that I have DX9(although I think BF2 needs it so I'm confused as to why it's not found) and try to download a third time from a different source but end up with the same results.

This is exactly why I wasn't going to get 2142 in the first place, EA's bug ridden, half-***ed products. But I'd still like to at least try the demo and want to know if anyone knows how to counter this problem.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

ALSO: I did a thread search and found no helpful information(or threads for that matter) on this subject.

I would, but that place is loaded up with the crazies, and yes it may be s***, but I'd like to try it myself before saying so.

are you running 9.0c

Go here and install DirectX: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

and check that the d3dx9_29.dll is present in your C:\WINDOWS\system32.

I've triple checked on that, and yes I am running that. Still no clue on what's wrong.
