BF2 graphics problems

Hey I just got a new video card and am trying to play BF2 on it. The card is the radeon x850 xt 256mb (pci-e). I have catalyst 6.9 drivers/control center installed. Reviews I have read say the card works well with BF2 with the game set on the high graphic settings. However, I am having problems. The game runs quickly w/o lag, but I get polygons(? pink, green, yellow shapes on terrian, vehicles etc.). Lowering the graphics settings does not fix this, just makes the quality that much poorer. Like I said I have no problems with performance, the graphics are just bugging out. I even tried overclocking with the catalyst overclocking tool, but the higher clock rates didn't change anything. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is?

System specs:
win xp sp2, 2x1gb ddr2 800 ram, intel core 2 duo 6400 @ 2.13ghz, intel dg965ry mob, sapphire ati radeon x850 xt 256mb pci-e, antec sp 2.0 ATX 12V 500w psu

these sound like artefacts that the pipes show up. From what Ive heard, like you can open up some pipes on a lower graded card and sometimes there are no artefacts so you get lucky, sounds like you got thee reverse!

I got the same thing with a GeForce 6800GT 256MB. Turning the graphics down to medium from high cured it. However I would like a solution so I can run the game in high...

Running in high also seems to make the game freeze every so often. Most annoying.

Well if you can't find anything wrong with it, take it back to where you bought it and be like, whats going on.

Or if you've had it for awhile, take it to a computer shop and let them take a look at it.
