Tank it on a 64 player map like Warlord or Mass Destruction with around 20 people. Play Mec or Rebel as you tend to get more kills defending with no uncap than you do trying to cap the flags. Ghost town tends to get lopsided and tickets drain quick. If you can fly a chopper pretty well, Leviathan 64 player map is a map where you can rack up lots of kills as well.
Ghost town is very hard to get 44 kills, I would suggest either a fairly busy iron gator map (have gotten 60-70 kills before) or half full warlord map (almost always go here for expert medals).
Be a commander on warlord and use your artillery with armor to make the kills. The combination of the two methods will get you the 44 kills fast enough.
This only works in small 16 person servers with 64 player maps that require an hour or so to complete the battle for one side or the other.
I got my Engie badge on Warlord (Jackhammer is unbeatable in Palace). Also support seams easiest on Warlord. Just find server with 20 - 32 players on 32 or 64 map.
Warlord if you want those 44 kills for support I have seen lots of people racking up the kills by camping the small room at the end of third-floor corridor and shooting into the corridor. PKM would probably be advisable, or the RPK.
