Lag causing me severe distress

When I am playing BF:2 online or when I am playing Helo Attack on singleplayer I experience massive lag time on occasion. It is quite frustrating to tell you the truth, being in the middle of a heated battle & then everything goes slo-mo.

My specs (if it helps)
AMD Athlon XP2200+, 1.80 GHz
66.1 gigs of space free on HD
1.25GB of RAM
NVidia GeForce 7600AGP Video card (drivers are updated)

What is your ping on those servers? What for servers are you playing on? Map Size? What settings do you run on BF2? 1.25GB isn't really enough for all high.

What kind of internet connection do you have?

I'm not an interviewer but if you could answer these you would help us very much.

I have 1 gig, play on 20 ping servers, play on all low...and still LAG like hell on all maps except karkalnd, Sharqui, mashtuur and jalalabad.....SO FRUSTRATING!!!

I guess the servers are public servers? I usually play single player & still experience lag on rare occasions. As far as the settings go, I believe I have them all on default. As you have all guessed by now I am a FNG when it comes to BF2 so I am lost in the woods.

Can't you give us the exact ms (ping) of servers your playing on? And how's your internet connection?

Problem still isn't very clear..

I just started playing on servers, so what is a "good" ping for playing? My internet connection is DSL 300+ kbps?. I just went out & bought another gig of RAM so hopefully that will ease my problems a bit. Thank you all for your help.

Most people prefer the 80 series to the 90 series drivers. Maybe you should revert back to some 80 series drivers and see if you gain some fps. I know I did.

I was lagging earlier with a ping in the 30's, its so frustrating.

wat soundcard do u have...audigy2 soundcards may give some major perofmrance loss..thats all i can think of if ur ping in normal and yeah

Hi gamers,

try this :
- In a game online , open the console and type this:
pb-sleep 500
pb_writecfg
This allowed punkbuster to check your harddrive every 500s instead of 20 sec.
If not , you can dleete the file "batttlefield2" in "Your documents" and retrieve your account.
you need to do your settings again
