Re: Anyone thinking of 2142 DON'T
I guess it was all a matter of time before people that were not going to get the game did so anyway, then blamed someone else for their own defective decision making skills.
If the demo is not great, don't buy the game...Very simple I thought
However, if 2142 is a BF2 mod, then by the same logic, Quake wars will also be a mod, it uses the Doom 3 engine.Comment

Re: Anyone thinking of 2142 DON'T
i dont get the reason for not buying the game. i read the thread over on total2142 and it sounds like the game plays like bf2, so what . i must be one of the few that enjoy this game. bugs, glitches,or lockups. almost all of my higher end games do these same things for time to time. so i just live with it and learn to play the game with its problems. the guy that started the post didnt even sight why he wanted a refund. he just said the game was crap and he wanted his 50 bucks back. no reasons or examples, just rant. i try not to listen to those guys they remind me to much of geroge w bushComment

Careful josh, you will be labeled a "fanboy" for attempting to describe the differences between poerceived problems and real problems with the game.

PlaneWhore posted an amazing detailed review of BF 2142. I suggest you read it. I personally think that BF 2142 will sell, but not that great. No where near the over 2 million copies BF2 sold. This may sound odd, but BF2142 so far makes BF2 sound like a breath of fresh air.Comment

Re: Anyone thinking of 2142 DON'T
Seriously played for hours and now I have come to a conclusion for anyone thinking of moving on.lol seriously bf2142 seems like backwards to me,even though it sets in the future. The weapons in bf2142 makes the pistol in bf2 seem like a weapon to be reckon with. I swear after playing with this game,I wonder what the hell where they thinking>???
This game seriously needs awhole lotta tweaking, weapons tweak, graphics. it was terrible, every server lag no matter how low your pings are.The vehicles are something like bumper cars, you have no idea which way your walking mech is moving, or the hover tank for that matter; Somebody put some tracks on it! As for combat, hell I don't think it exist. all I saw were vehicles on screen duking it out .well anyhoot, thats my two cents on it. It 's worth playing so you can experience how much better bf2 is to this .

Re: Anyone thinking of 2142 DON'T
Yea, I played for a while, and wow, I was kinda shocked. I'm a huge mechwarrior fan, so the thought of piloting a walker again seemed kinda fun so I went ahead and preordered the game. But, as far as the demo goes:
The interface was alot cleaner
There was no 5 minute 'verifying client information'
The effects and explosions were alot more impressive
The whole graphics system seemed beefed-up
And, titan mode was actually a nice change of pace
The new vehicles are great! There's no MG for the tank drivers anymore, but a zoom reticle now, which is nice
The 'jeep' has a booster on it, which can get you movin in a hurry
The EMP effects on your visor and vehicles are very well done (can get to be annoying, but it's better then insta-death arty)
But, on the downside,
The voices don't sound at all urgent like they should on a battlefield
The muzzle flash from the guns is a bit overdone
At 25 feet, the muzzle climb on the assult rifle rose up about 3 feet above the person's head on full auto
The full auto guns aren't terrible accurate, most kits I saw were sniper and engineer
And my No.1 complaint would have to be the inclusion of a frackin' revolver. 130 years from now, our military is going to resort back to the cutting edge technology from the battlefields 130 years ago. Just plain stupid - I hope they're joking about the revolver it's only in the demo.
All in all, BF2 will be sticking around, and for the puriests, 2142 won't be for you. But anyone looking for a change of scenery with something familiar, 2142 should be fun. I can't see it taking over my love of BF2, but like Garabaldi said, if you think of it as a mod, you ought to have fun with it.Comment

Originally posted by GarabaldiI classify BF2142 as a mod for a few simple reasons.
It adds nothing new to the Battlefield series besides a new gameplay mode.
It is still riddled with CTD's and COnnection problems.
I'll stick with Project Reality.
You do know by your logic that BF2 is also a mod?
Im pretty sure thats because you didnt install DX9 which does not come with the demoOriginally posted by xpnlGreat game......

which is your own fault not the games Self-Ownage XD

The definition of a mod means it cant be a mod, i've went over this on a previous post.Originally posted by Revoluti0nI guess it was all a matter of time before people that were not going to get the game did so anyway, then blamed someone else for their own defective decision making skills.
