Perhaps I missed the point you are trying to make.
I thought “cover” means occupy the space at the spawning point, so it can’t be used to spawn there. If you mean “cover” as in standing close, watching and killing people as they spawn, then I totally agree with you. I do it all the time when I cap a flag. It’s not an exploit whatsoever, since the opponent have his chance to defend and fight back.
But since you have said “they got their one chance”, I have to assume “cover” means “blocking” a spawn point.
Using this can’t be blamed on players, though, only on DICE for implementing such a poor design. I have to admit it takes a lot of coordination and teamwork to pull it off, but still it’s not a good decision from DICE to allow it. This shouldn’t be a game of chess, where you can’t move your king, if the enemy forbids it.

    Sure there must be one.
How about spawning at the flag is made random within the area of the flag?
You kill two birds with one stone:
    - you can’t deny spawning at a flag, by blocking all the spawning points.
    - you make spawn rape harder, since the enemy is not predictable anymore.
Blocking all the spawn points could become more of an issue now, since squad hopping has been removed. Where should a SL spawn when he’s dead, if the enemy is blocking all the spawn points at the disputed flag? He can’t resign and spawn back on a new SL, he is forced to spawn at a different flag and so loose the fight by lack of representation.
Let me put it another way: what would anybody think when he’s trying to spawn at a flag and he can’t do so, for no apparent reason?! “Stupid bug! Let me report this one, too!”

Batasu, alternative to engagement method, not gameplay aspect. That is up to DICE to change and there is not a single soul that would disagree with you on randomizing spawnpoints.

Makes no sense to me really. If you are covering the spawn points while your teamates cap then the cap will take longer to achieve without your help. If you charge in on a flag you must quickly take everyone out in sight and then rush the flag to cap before too many of the enemies spawn. Once the flag is capped seek out anyone who spawned and is waiting to attack. Obviously you might peek around some corners but a flag is capped quick with a whole squad sitting on it.

Agreed. The item that people seem to complain about the most is the constant attack on a flag when no effort is made to overtake the flag. Inevitably there will be some or a lot of people spawning there to defend, and they will die or successfully defend.
I also think that people are confusing an attempt to over take a flag with uncap base raping. It is obviously 2 very different things, and somehow the 2 usually end up being debated within the same post, sometimes the same phrase.

Takes longer? When I'm SL and I send in 4-5 of my guys, that flag is capped and if anyone dies in the process they have a GREAT spawn point. The fact is, when you're taking a flag and the enemy notices the flag is going down they typically toss nades into the "normal" hiding spots to cap that flag, by me watching the spawns I can almost eliminate the possibility of my teammates getting killed.

Another area of concern is that if any enemies do spawn and don't find my squad members and get into the flag "zone" the flag will not turn in our favor...makes sense to me to eliminate the enemy asap instead of waiting for him to possibly come find me.

                Re: Teamwork

People only think watching over a CP is wrong because they expect those people who do it to be taken out easily. Quite wrong; when the enemy manages to get a foothold on a CP (especially a fully functioning squad), and moves into a defensive formation; it takes a lot of communication, tactics and skill to take them out effectively.

People who think watching over a CP is wrong- are also those who just run mindlessly towards CPs 'watched' by enemy squad/s, thinking they're invincible, and end up looking like a bunch of dumb lemmings marching into a mincer.

It is also not considered spawn camping- if it was done under the intention of achieving a particular objective OTHER than earning points only.

It's spawn camping if you make no attempt to capture the flag and just face a spawn point.

I guess you didn't see my tounge inserted firmly in my cheek. :p

I was commenting on the fact that in Public servers there is hardly team play outside of the occasional team stacking by clan members.

Though I have to say I've been to some good servers lately that do have some team players. Lust Hog being one of them.

I do think your tactic is legit.

There is no such thing as spawn-raping or base-raping a CAPPABLE flag. ONLY un-caps constitute such phrases.

I don't know that, either. I assumed that that was the main point of your post. :)
But do you agree that using vehicles to block all spawn points at a flag is a cheesy tactic, but legit nonetheless, since the game allows to do it?
Just covering the points is a good tactic, though, requiring a great deal of teamwork and more and more people are using it.

If i go to take a flag i dont wait for any of my teammates to cover me or me covering them.

I kill, get the flag and if the enemy respawns again kill him again.
