Re: EA/Dice does not care about your complaints. You are minority
Nillson is actually right.
Hanging around these forums and reading the threads dripping with tar one might actually believe that the game is totally craptacular. However I would also call the forums a VERY loud minority. I think I've asked it several times here about the people who constantly complain ... why do you keep on playing. I actually wish to know how many hours the major whiners (Hazzard, etc) have put into the game and the reason for it!
With every game there will be those who won't like this or that, and if this or that is changed then there will be others who will find the changes to this and that outrageous and a violation of their civic rights.
I've played this game for 450 hours, to be honest I don't remember any games in my whole time of gaming (15+ years) that would even come close to it. I play it this much since I just love the game. At some points I might say that it is becoming a bit boring (mods solve that). But the number of different gameplays you get with 10 to 64 players is quite high. OK the bigger scenarios in the beginning of the round are sometimes similar, I'll give you that. Otherwise its a new experience in almost every round.Comment

I think its true. But no worry as we will make them care when 2142 flops like Oprah coming off a diving board. $$$ is the only thing that will get their attention... withhold the money and they will listen.Comment

That interview is just insulting and totally non-professional,
as i wrote on the EA forums, my take on it is as follows:
Mr. Nilsson - "We cant convince the community that we support BF after the games are released
C&VG - "So youre crap then?"
Mr. Nilsson - "No, its just all the smacktards in the community are ganging up on us and trying to make us look bad, i mean huh? - what total nOObs!!!!
Theres the vocal minority who complain about the small things, why dont you tell us how much you love our wonderful game? 'tards!!!
As for the vocal minority that complain about the big things, erm, eh, hmmmmm, oh yeah BF2142, great game, wonderful, buy it you'll love it, and please dont talk to any of our previous customers, we'll support you, i promise, honestly, you believe me dont you? we've got sweeties!!!!
Thank you, youve been wonderfull, now im getting back to my bomb shelter"
The number 1 priority for any company selling a new version of any product is
a) Do not alienate your current customer base
b) Try and aquire new customers through advertising etc.
Now that interview is basically saying forget about A, lets go for B because anyone who was silent during the 1.3 fiasco has more money than sense
However i will say one thing to DICEs credit, they've created a complex sandbox game which is difficult to balance in online gaming and doing that makes a lot of community enemies for them as we keep telling them to stop nerfing it, the balance itself is neigh on impossible to get perfect, so i quite understant that their job is difficult, but they neednt have come out with such statements regarding the community in their interview ESPECIALLY when they mentioned nothing about the big problems that people complain aboutComment

Same here ... and the few problems I have had I can live with.Originally posted by Scintoi dont complain because i dont have a problem with the patches :p im just one of a few that have never encountered any problems with the patches as far as the crash's and various other glitches that occur, (not including the players who willingly glitch/hack/cheat)
it depends on your perspective of how a patch can make a game good or bad
Ok there are a couple of CTDs, but the same has happened in other games, where you spend hours buiding your empire and in the frenzy you forget to save ... that is what I call annoying.
I don't know, maybe I've grown immune to such things ... changes in real life that are enforced by the legislative powers aren't often something everyone wants. They promise to make it better, they come up with a law and make it even worse, but we still grow accustomed to it and adapt.
There were days where you could not voice your opinions about the games you played and everyone was happy even though the games looked like an eight-year-old had designed it.
Some of the changes and additions that have been brought to the community in the patches, cartillery for example, could very well be something that was opted out of the initial release even though it had been coded in. Then they held a poll (don't you always wonder who answers the polls, since they never seem to correspond to your vision of how rest of the population sees things) and decided to bring it out. Well initially the cartillery came out a bit flawed, but no grown person can anticipate the evil creativity of children. Now cartillery is a very good option that most players are quite happy about, if used in the fashion it is meant to be used.
The same goes for jump shoot, noob-tubes, etc. Weren't those nerfed because of loud-voiced complaints? Other things that have been nerfed, you might say that you never wanted it, the guy next you never wanted it etc. But if a very loud minority that knew exactly which buttons to press did want it, then they sure as hell got it.
Lets face it, most of the changes made so far have been implemented because of teenagers and other immature beings attemting to make their e-genitals look bigger.
As for the actual game bugs (CTDs, red-tag, etc) ... maybe its not like a blown tire or a busted fuel pump that is blatantly obvious and that they just won't replace. I don't believe that they haven't been looking for the causes of those. I've read posts about it being the fault of a crappy net-code, well if you are so good then why don't you volunteer and fix it?
Anyway, the game didn't cost that much money, the patches are free, playing it is free (not talking about server owners here) and it is a very good game.
Flame away!
EDIT: I do not work for EA/DICE nor am I in any way associated with them

Re: EA/Dice does not care about your complaints. You are minority
Meh, Ive played this game for more than a year. I wouldnt if it was bad. I understand that BF2 is an extremely complex and big game in terms of details and as such, bugs are unavoidable.
Telling EA/DICE doesnt care about the players is utter and stupid nonsense. Were at 1.4 patch right now. In one year, we got more than 5 patches, man, thats saying a lot.
If anything, I would blame DICEs lack of testing for the disappointment in patching.Comment
