new soundcard = no more display [help]

ok so i tried putting in my old SoundBlaster Live! just for fun and i uninstalled my old integrated soundmax drivers and disabled onboard audio in teh bios and installed the new driverse for my sb live!.

then i load up bf2 and it plays fine for like 1 minute..and then suddenly my screen goes black. as this is happening i take a peek into my case (i have the front open for ventilation) and my video card seems to be off (the blue LEDs arnt on anymore). i turn off my computer and reboot and then its fine again, but whenevner i boot up bf2 and start playing..i get the black screen (my screen actuially says "no dvi signal detected" as if i unplugged my cables, but theyre plugged in securely

some notes are: i remember when i first installed this soundcard in another computer, i had something that looked like a very small powercable going from my soundcard into my motherboard and i dont kno where that cable went, so i gooogled, and it said nothing about having a pwoercable for the soundcard for installation

    any help would be appreciated

Sounds like you may have the old Soundblaster IRQ conflict. Try the card in a different slot (not the one right next to the agp slot). As for the cable you're referring to it sounds like this is the one you're talking about,

If so it is not needed, and hasn't been required for a number of years.

      thanks for the reply,
its not in the slot next to the agp..its like 2 slots down

and an update on the problem,

i woke up this morning and now my display wont show anymore but u can hear the computer booting. and it still does that even with my soundcard out
