    ''Can't find install folder for BF2'' - 1.4 Patch

I moved my BF2 directory to a faster drive some time ago. I need to update to v1.4, but I get the ''Can't find install folder for BF2'' error. Now I can't reinstall it beacause the dvd is too scratched (its still good to run/play the game).

Can modifing the registry fix this? If so, how?

Nope that will not help, you must reinstall the game.
download the game via torrent, install using your cd-key (original)if you use the one provided you will be banned from all PC games that use punkbuster forever.

try to copy files from dvd to Hard disk

Download a trial of "game drive" (google it) and try to make an image of your dvd (it may or may not read it depending on how bad it is.

As for the "can't find install folder" thing, in my trouble shooting of another problem I got this too.

Funny thing was, I could not un/re install the game (Windows control panel would show it but it would not let me uninstall it) no matter what I did (I even tried running the install off the DVD, it just quit).

I had to use a third-party application called "crap cleaner" (great app google it) and in their menu I was finally able to uninstall the game (the DVD then let me fully run the setup).
