    Why?

In alot of the Bf2 movies like the sands of fire trailer its raining or snowing or stuff. Why dont people put them on a normal fighting server? it would be awesome to be like fighting in the rain on Sharqi or having fights in a nighttime karkand

that would be badass, but the people with lower-end systems would need a way to disable it or they'd get raped by it just like they do the fog and smoke, if not worse.

It would be very nice... but for the purposes of pwning... everyone would probably turn it off anyway.

And other than that, it'd probably be unecessary excess on top of the massive file size of BF2 already.

I wish they had clouds for flying through though... it'd be great for dogfights.

Ah, I was just watching some of the DC vids over in another thread, saw Kadafi Docks, Basrah...ah, the days.

From what I had gathered, DiCE put a lot of effort into getting weather effects into BF2, they had tried with BF:V, but did not get it working, and put more research into it for BF2.

It looks like Id and Splash damage are going to get it working right and have terrain effects related to weather conditions with QW:ET. I think we forget that DiCE, like Colin stated, is not a large gaming company with a big staff.

They should probably just add weather effects and diseases.

People who camp for too long get frost-bite and lose health in an icy environment. In wet and tropical climates, people who camp begin to grow mold, and get bitten by nasty creatures - slows down movement AND loses health. People camping in hot and arid environments get sunburnt - loses health, and begin to see black dots in their vision.

Indeed. I believe everyone might be under the impression despite being told otherwise that Dice is a conglomerate of 100's of 1,000's of programmers and mappers and the like. When in fact it is still a smaller development house that is still cutting it's teeth (for the most part).

Yep, even the larger gaming companies don't build EVERYTHING themselves, but buy peices of technology to implement in the engine too. Like the ragdoll effects of the bodies, DiCE did not spend the months writing the code for that.

I often wonder how many people they have up in Canada, it almost feels like 15-20 people. Id has around the same amount of people, but they also have years of development work behind them and they spend a long time developing each title. Plus, they have made so much money from royalties of their engines and sales, they can put a lot of money into projects, whether it is super high-end rendering boxes or expensive graphics software.

ya, I don't think I would like to see a patch that would come in and change the game that much. Considering Daqing and Op Harvest have a 'wet' enough feel is fine with me. I don't think any of us are looking for that big of a FPS hit.

Besides, once the physics engines become more common and exentions are added to them, we will see way better effects...but for now, I will take my Oman sunshine.
