There is a Problem With Your Connection

    Hello!

On most of the servers I join, the map is loading, and everything seems to be
just fine, but immediately after I enter the game I get a message telling me
that "There is a problem with your connection" ... and I get back to the game
browser ... by the way my internet connection is still up ... and we're talking
about servers where I used to play on a regular basis (on my favorites) ...
    but can't anymore ...

However, on some very few servers, everything is running perfectly ... no
problem at all ... this is happenning since only a few weeks ... not exactly
after applying the latest patch, but since a week or two ... I tryed to re-
install the full patch 1.4 but I still have the same issue when joining most
of the servers ... I'm 99% sure it's not my computer 'cause nothing have
changed on it since a very long time (no new software installed/removed).

I think is a 1.4 bug ... Anybody else experiencing the same issue ?

download pbweb.exe and place it here

          C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\pb

double click it and let it update, I used to get that problem every 30 mins or so

            Same here.
There was no problem at all (I've never had connection or CTD issues aside from the 1.3 stuff everyone had) until almost two weeks AFTER installing 1.4.

It's not your computer; there IS an issue with this patch or the gamespy master server.
But for whatever reason, only some people are getting this problem.

The main thing we are all seeing is how it started about 1.5 to 2 weeks after we patched, and most of us NEVER had any issues with previous patches and connection problems.
We are also not having any connection issues outside of BF2 (other games, or in general).

I've had ZERO hardware or software changes in my gaming pc from the 1.4 install up until this started about a week ago.

I also know my way around pc hardware and software quite well, it is not anti-virus software, it is not dual core related, it is not firewall, router or port related, and it is not vga driver related, none of these things were altered on my pc during this time frame.

I even called out my cable company and had them check my line quality, it's top notch.

Re: There is a Problem With Your Connection

I have had this problem off and on with Patch 1.3 and 1.4, and it usually happens in the middle of a game where I have an awesome score, so I get dumped and lose al my points.

I updated PB, and have fixed the PB connect time in the console!
I have the latest drivers for everything in my pc.
I have run Antivirus and Spyware removal software - nada
I have cleaned my cache, cookies, temp, temp internet folders
                I have defragmented my HD
I have turned every process my computer does not absolutely need to run OFF in task manager....

and I still get connection problems.....which means it is my ISP cable signal ....sometimes the signal does varies, and if it dips too low I think that is when I get the error!

I bought a cable modem that was suppose to boost signal strength or work better with weaker signals, but I still end up with this error WAY too often!!!

If anyone can think of something I missed or forgot to try please let me know!

it has nothing to do with dual core processors..

as mentioned above, this has started happening to a lot of people in just the past week or so. i have not made any configuration changes to my machine, my internet connection is fine, PB is updated, etc. etc. something is going on with either EA or Gamespy or something...this blows. i constantly lose connections to games now to the point where it doesnt even bother to try. what gives?

Just answer the Question: ARE YOU running DUAL CORE?

wtf are you talking about? he is not referring to a stuttering problem - we all have read the threads about dual cores having problems, this is not the same thing. and yes, i am as a matter of fact running an AMD 64X2 4600+ on an MSI K9N Platinum mobo with two gigs of Corsair XMS DDR2...so i know what i'm talking about. i've been playing BF2 for weeks on this system with zero problems, now in the past week i get connection problems....like dozens of people here. this problem is not dual core related.

Re: There is a Problem With Your Connection

There are two ways to update punkbuster, I've tried both PBsetup and manual updating, neither had any effect.

And yes I run a dual core and this is NOT the source of my problem.

I'm 100% positive of this because I actually popped out my FX-60 and put in an old 3500+, it still does it.

I'm not saying Firewall, ports, dual-core, anti-virus, drivers and whatnot should be overlooked, of course they should not.

But remember, we are not talking about people who are having general connection issues, we are talking about people who have run perfectly fine for the better part of a year and EXACTLY 1-2 weeks after we upgraded to 1.4, our troubles began.

Let's try to eliminate some things here and see if those having this "1-2 week after installing 1.4" problem have anything in common.

                          Hardware:

AMD FX-60 (have tried with and without cool & quiet cpu drivers)
Asus A8N32 SLI Deluxe (fresh flash of 1205 BIOS w/ pure stock settings)
2 GB Corsair XMS 3500 PRO
SB Audigy 2 ZS (current drivers)
                          evga 7950 GX2 (current drivers)
                          logitech mx 518 (current drivers)

                          Software:

I'm not going to bother with this because when I started trouble shooting this, I did full system formats and installed NOTHING aside from the above listed drivers.

Line connection: cable 10mb down, 900 up.

May have worked for you, but that is not the problem for us here.
I've tried that along with downloading the patch from multiple sources (EA downloader, official site, file planet).
