    POE2 memory leak

Hi all i dont know if this is the right for to post this ni but here goes anyways.

I have been playing POE2 since it was released and have always had the following problem.

In game online I get what looks like lag but its not there are gaps in sound and makes game play near impossible it seems to be worst when there are vehicles on the map but I still get the juddering kind of affect with no vehicles as well just not as bad.

    My pings are around 35 – 40.

I have been looking around on the issue and when the POE website was up on there forums there was a guy with the same problem he said it was a memory leak because they had left something from when they patched BF2 the first time and it created that memory leak.

Anyways I don’t know much on the subject but if anyone has the problem and has found a solution or has any advice it would be much appreciated as they have done a great job on the mod it seems a shame not to be able to play it.

If you need any info just ask thanks POTD

    My specs

    AMD A64 3800+
    512mb kingston DDR 3200
    512mb kingston DDR 3200
NVIDIA GeForce SLI 6600 GT PCIe 256MB (X2) (SLI enabled)
    Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe Nforce4 PCiEx
Serial ATA 300 GB 7200 RPM Maxtor 16MB Cache
    Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2

If anyone has any ideas it would be great.

    Re: POE2 memory leak

You say you think it is a memory leak, then when it starts to lag has the bf2.exe grown in memory use until you are out of free memory or does some other program take away all available memory?

A memory leak will show a great difference in the starting memory amount and the longer the game plays, the memory should be growing as the time ticks away.

If the bf2.exe is not growing large, like 1/3rd to 1/2 or more from starting memory, then find out what is taking up all of the memory.

Just in case, while you are playing bf2, your cpu should just about be maxed out if it is not already. Then, if you alt-tab out of the game, the cpu useage will go down some as XP by default give process priority to the front app.

Also, make sure you have updated your ASUS MB BIOS and drivers. If you are not running BIOS version 1016, then you will need to update but read all of the warning cause you may need to perform some driver updates depending on what BIOS version you are running now.

I read over in the POE forums that there is a handfull of players claiming memory leaks but none show actual starting and ending memory useage while testing for a memory leak with the BF2.exe.

Since POE2 is just a graphics update (or improvement) to the bf2 game, it may be that you will need to lower your video settings as the extra work on your vid cards could be causing them to overheat. Even if they increase in temp a little bit, this will also cause the rest of the case temp to rise, which will cause the memory and MB chipsets to also heat up, any of which could cause system problems. As one thing heats up, it starts a chain reaction as they start heating each other up to the point of needing extra cooling, so check this out also.
