Re: Punkbuster GUID ban after a reinstall

    First of all....

    FFOLKES
Let me say, I misunderstood your post. I am gratefully sorry.
I must have been reading to fast in my disgust withPB

and you do have a very good point. Please accept my apology.

However, that would not explain it because why would I just now get the ban if not in the last 3 in a half months? I have played only on PB supervised servers. Heck, I don't think there's any left that aren't. (if there is, then someone please pm me )

    Unless....
my mother in law visited for the weekend and HAD to use my computer and HAD to look up a date in December 2006 and HAD to hit the OK key when she was done instead of Cancel... all without me knowing it. So taking the oppurtunity for my wife to take some good quality time with her mother, I decide to go re-install my BF2. .
Hey, why not. It's a win win for everyone. :shakehead

The rest is history. I install, update, yada yada... Then BAM you've been punkbusted, here's your error, have a nice day. Fight in slow two way messaging service on their web page until I bash my head into the screen and then decide to install Call Of Duty to crank it back up. That is when I happened to look at the time. I popped open my calandar and Whoa...Christmas is next Monday? No it's really only September 24th for an hour now. It's right...now.

This could explain the date phenomenon even better. Thanks FFOLKES. He really is some good ol FFOLKES. If it were't for him, I may not of goten the whole picture.

But it does me abolutely no good. I still have to come up with another 40 bucks to shelf out to Mr. EA & Mrs. DICE. Because a differnent business partner of theirs is ripping me off by not looking into WHY they are getting a cheating code Just...
Were sorry, that code means you are a cheating cheater :cussing:

Ok, I'm taking a break. Off to search for the best deal on BF2 brand newly sealed box. arrrggg thanks for listening. And thanks to all that thew in some ideas. signa... CyberPitz... vika09... and especially CyberPitz... SuperTyphoon... AND>>>FFOLKES

Re: Punkbuster GUID ban after a reinstall

Is a GUID ban the same thing as a hardware ban?

Because if it is(Which I don't know), if your hardware is banned in any PB game, it will ban you again in any game that uses PB. You could have bought a piece of used hardware from Ebay or a PC store that has been hardware banned by PB. Again I don't know if GUID bans and Hardware bans are related...

No problem HC. In regards to Donkey's post have you tried to install your BF2 copy on another machine to see if you get the same error?

so now I have to fork up the $$ for a new game so that I can play again. They won't help me anymore on this issue.
Be advised that a new cd key (buying a new game) will not help you...
The 'cheat' tried to 'prevent detection by PB', which means you have a hardware ban as well..
So if you buy a new cd key, and install with it and try to play, PB will come up with a Hardware ban error...

You will need to buy new hardware as well... a Harddisk and new networkcard at the very least...

Don't just take my word for it, but ask others as well about it, before you decide to spend any more money...

Re: Punkbuster GUID ban after a reinstall

This is for those that haven't learned how to read yet. Take a REAL good look at the screen shot that hobiecatter posted in his opening post, do you see anywhere in it that it says he has been globally hardware banned? I didn;t think so. What it says is that he has been globally GUID banned. Notice the difference now?

So for all you amateur Sherlocks out there, he has a GUID ban (which means he needs a new copy of the game/cd-key), not a hardware ban (which would yes, mean he would need a new computer).

                  I hope you are correct.

I will find out later. I have another computer that I will try to install it on.

If it works, it is a hardware ban, if not, it is the key....

Look at this, (had to dig it from an old post in the support forum),

Notice the difference between that and the kick/ban you got. Like I said you have a GUID/cd-key ban, not a hardware ban.

Re: Punkbuster GUID ban after a reinstall

That pic didn't work, I'm still wondering about what DooDah says though because he makes it sound like I might still get a hardware ban AFTER I install with a new key.

Well, I'm installing now on the other computer to see if it bans on that one. (sure it will since it is a GUID, but what happens after I get a new key, that is the question.) I really don't want to get a new one, but I'm not sure how else to escalate this. They are not replying to my messages anymore.

I'm still wondering about what DooDah says
He is wrong. How many times does it have to be said to you, you have a GUID ban, NOT a hardware ban (based on the screen shot you posted). If you had a hardware ban the kick/ban message would say "GLOBAL PunkBuster HARDWARE BAN".

Here I'll post the H/W ban screen shot again,

and this is from your screen shot,

I did see the screenshot and did see it say GUID ban...
However, this may not be where it ends...

There are two kinds of checks...
The GUID and wether or not your hardware is banned...
Especially with a cheat that tried to prevent PB from detection, you may get both bans...

However you won't see the hardware ban, because you are allready kicked on the first check, the GUID ban...

So if you buy a new cd key, you only get past the first check and continue to the hardware check...
If you are hardware banned as well, you will then see that kick message...

The only way to be sure is to try a different PB game like BF1942...
Since you have a different key there, you will automatically go to the hardware check...

Anywayz, please don't take my word for it, but keep this in mind...

                                Thanks DooDaH.

I have been playing Call of Duty without any issues. It looks like it is a PB game. If I had a hardware ban, wouldn't it come up when I try COD? I hope!
