Bf2 Load Error (sorry Newbie Needing Help)

I appologise for this i know this is prob the 50,000th thread on this but i really want to play my game.

Ok here goes...

Patched Game (From Box) to 1.4, all i get is the crash to desktop bulls**t time and time again. I have tried everything i can think of and searched the internet high and low for help

WHAT I HAVE TRIED!! TO NO AVAIL!

- szx +1280 szy +1024 etc...
- Re-install Game bout 5 times + Patched -Re-patched
- Formated PC Re-install Game
- Changed the video.com file + Audio.con file
- Deleted Battlefield 2 folder in my docs.
- Run from disk instead of shortcut
- Updated/deleted/updated GFX drivers countless times(Latest installed now)

QUESTIONS?

IS MY GFX CARD EVER GOING TO WORK WITH THIS GAME?
IS MY PROCESSOR/CPU OK FOR THIS GAME?
IS MY DVD DRIVE THE ISSUE?

WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?

SPECS:
ATHLON64 3500+ (RETAIL)
3GB PC 3200 RAM (2x1GB Dual 2x512's)
250GB WD SATA
PNY 7800GT GFX CARD (256MB)
NEC 2500 DVD/RW
HYPER 560W PSU
DFI-LANPARTY ULTRA-D MOBO
1280x1024 Native Res flat panel @60Hz

CAN I LAUNCH IN SAFE MODE? THE GAME HAS RUN BEFORE A FEW TIMES BUT ABOUT 90% OF THE TIME IT CRASHES TO DESKTOP.

please post the make/model of your floppy drive.

edit: i'm kidding. run it in windowed mode and it may give you an error message

also try redownloading the patch at:

Do u have any ideas?

I DONT have a floppy installed...and in windowed mode (Fullscreen 0) I dont get any errors at all, just no load into game?

Why the floppy?

i had my connection (not my game - my packet sniffer confirmed that the program was requesting re-transmissions endlessly) freeze. The game didn't freeze - my connection did. But only when I'd log on with a certain username. I created a new account and I can login fine (old account - hang (but still responding) at the logging in screen).

So now I'm troyb0b instead of troybob in-game.

EA said it was my graphics drivers.

Your graphics card is fine, at least that model has plenty of horsepower to play the game. I've got an XFX 7800GT and never had a problem with it. As a matter of fact, our PC's are pretty even and I play the game with everything on high. I guess it's possible that a hardware conflict of some kind is giving you grief, but the components on their own are strong enough to play the game.

Sorry I can't be of further use in pinpointing your problem.

I dont ahve conflicts i just spent a day installing everything again from format fresh...

It will just not load lol...Dont think it ever will either..

I ahve posted my solution on the forum anyway to help ppl.

But it was infact my NEC 2500A DVD writer drive...was out dated and did not support the disk "encryption" so it wudnt run. Brought a new LITEON drive 16x for 25 quid...and it worked!

CAN I GET AN AMEN TO THAT...WHOOOP WHOOP!
