    Shut down problem!

I recently brought bf2, installed it, played it for 2 minutes before my computer shutdown. This happened continuly even after trying every combination of video and audio settings. I re-installed and defragged my drive, updated graphics and sound drivers, downloaded the v1.4 patch. I even tried disabling the windows paging file.
The problem happens on both single player and multiplayer, in the game never in menus.
I am using a brand new Athlon 64 3200+, 1024mb 400mhz, 256mb pci express geforce 6600, asus mb with onboard soundmax HD 5.1 sound.
    Any help is appreciated!

What is the specs on your psu?

Only thing I can think of is that you downloaded a corrupt version of the 1.4 patch. I would redownload from the EA site and install that.

I'm still curious what your temps are though. Typically a computer shutting down means a hardware issue or heat problem is occuring and is rarely software related.

My thoughts are your PSU. If its flakey it'll crap out when you load up something power hungry like a game. Did you keep your old PSU and case? Cause your new components are probably too demanding for it.

OR, if you got a new case with PSU, usually the included PSU is a peice of junk. Try swapping it out and see what happens.

Yeah my PSU is just the 350w that came with my case. Didn't know it made much difference. Anyway tarded bf2 in for prey which has a higher minimum spec. and runs nicely. Which is a shame cus I wanted to play bf2 more. Does anyone know if it's worth me buying bf2142? After upgrading my PSU ofcourse. Do they use the same game engine?
                Thanks

Same game engine and you can get a really nice psu for around 60-100 dollars, WELL worth the upgrade.
