A Call to Prayer-How do u maintain interest

    Heyhey,

    Before anyone moves this thread, here's my rationale;

Yes this is a thread that regards recruitment, however, it's an open discussion regarding maintaining an interest in BF2 and should be open to people that aren't necessarily looking for a Clan/tournament.

Preamble: I've been playing BF2 since it's release date and noticed that the only reason I still play BF2, is because I'm in a tournament.

Question to group: How do you maintain your interest, do you just buy expansion packs, do you play in other clans and tournaments, do you just pub?
I want serious answers and feel free to plug your own group and tournament.

Shameless plug: We're actively recruiting and just won a MYIS server...thanks guys.

    thanks,

I ran into the same problem a while back. I found that playing less and also using different kits seem to do the trick. I never used to be medic or engineer, or anti-tank. Now I play a lot of those to mix it up a bit.

But now with 55,000 points and rapidly reaching my 2nd. LT rank, and with all unlocks, I am reaching for ideas to keep it fresh. The ONLY thing I have not done is fly jets. But fly boys suck anyway. Grab a rifle and stand at post, I say. Get out of the air and join the team.

I'm too cheap to buy another game. Even with all the flaws, bugs, cheats, and exploits its passes the time.

I've given up on my unlocks long ago. I have yet to find a rifle that matchs the G35.

Somehow, I feel like we're missing out on the use of Apaches. What I'm trying to say is, it's too easy for a chopper to fly in and rape infantry. In the gulf war, from what I gather, you might have choppers shooting guided missles from far to take out armour. I think I'd like to see a chopper without guns ....or maybe less accuracy on the carbine....something that would make choppers stick to shooting armour and I'd fly more.

As for the jets... they just don't have the room to fly around. Again....it should be extremely difficult for Jets to kill infantry.....but I'm just talking off my head.

See...I'm not too cheap...I like the game. Barring this weekend, I haven't played since August. I only got the patch on Saturday.

Road to Jalalabad is like a morning coffee...it gives a great jolt...but come noon, you're tired again.

The good thing about tournaments is that it's an organized way to play. This is where I'm cheap. I won't drop cash to win a t-shirt that I'd be too embarrassed to wear in public.

I would imagine that if I played every single day for an hour or so, I would get really tired of it. But I limit myself to weekends, usually, and this makes it more fun when I actually play. The game is just better when you havent played for a week.

Different maps my friend, different maps. I like to switch between urban and fly as much as possible. I try new strategies. Join a squad. See where it pops me up. Try new vehicles. Get in a clan. Whatever suits u. For me, I just think BF2 is fun. Its addictive. Bugs? They exist, but I hardly come across them.

Re: A Call to Prayer-How do u maintain interest

I stay interested by as someone basically said above, with variety. I enjoy every map in Vanilla, SF and both boosters. I don't play the same map for hundreds on hundreds of hours more that any other map. Admittedly I don't play too much SF but the only reason is, I have yet to find a server that isn't a one or two map 24/7 server type. I also like to mix my kits up and change to an appropriate kit depending on the battle situation. I also enjoy being squad leader and leading squads that work well together. I am a player who likes to use my head rather than run and gun. This works well for squad leaders but adds that added sense of accomplishment when you outwit your opponents rather than that charge of full automatic fire that most pubbers do.

Another reason I stay interested is because I never bought into the badges and medals. I don't play for any of that. In fact, when I receive one it totally comes as a surprise. I do enjoy that statistical side of of my stats and do watch those though. Things like K/D ratio are personal targets for me, not 'e-bling.'

Lastly, I have just recently ventured into the mod community and have played POE 2 since release. I always jump into it before heading into Vanilla or the like with clan mates after they join our Teamspeak Server.

Unfortunately, our clan isn't too dedicated so match play and tournaments aren't something that we routinely compete in. I would love to see that turned around but for now, with all the variety that I have with just a few mouse clicks away, my interest will be maintained in BF2 for some time to come.

So many different things to do how can you get bored? Pick a flag to defend one time. Fly the helo. Drive a tank. Learn all of the kits. Play commander. Concentrate on keeping the enemies assets down. Hop in a jeep and see how many people you can run over. The possibilities in this game are so vast compared to other games. It only gets old if you lack imagination.

I left FarCry for BF2 because of the better teamplay. This is what still attracts me.
