Another Graphics Problem...

Hi all,

I have bought a new ocmputer recently and have since isntalled bf2 on it.
I am having a BIG problem. The specs on this computer are a lot higher than my old one, but I cant seem to get the pixels to change in game to a higher detail, it is permenently stuck at what looks liks 800x600 but is displaying what I actually choose, but without actually changing it when i start the game. Basically its displaying im running say 1024 pixels but once I load a map its still 800x600.

My specs are:

Amd Athlon 64 x2 dual core 4200
2.00 Gig OF ram
256 Radeon x800xl

This should easily be enough to outperform my last machine which had a geforce 6600 and an amd athlon 2800+.

Anyone have any ideas as to why the pixels wont change in game?

Ive tried re-installing and it does nothing. Any ideas would be good.

Take it no one has encountered the same problem then?

you could give this ago
first of make sure your desktop res is at the same res you want to use in game

once you have done that try this first
go here
C:\Documents and Settings\Home\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001

Open the file Video

and change the line
VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@75Hz
to the same res as your desktop settings
VideoSettings.setResolution ****x****@75Hz

click save start up bf2 and see if that works

if that does not work you could try editing your BF2 game shortcut to
"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024 (or what ever values you want to use)

If you are using an LCD
most 17" ones use a native res of 1024x768 or 1280x1024
and ive only ever seen 19" lcds use 1280x1024
if u use an lcd at its non antive res games will look sh!t

although this mite not fix your problem its worth a try

Make sure to hit 'Apply' after making changes, I know, silly, but I have made that mistake

Thanks guys. I definately hit apply,lol.

The other method its in my config as already 1280x1024 already, but when it loads up it looks ****, do i don't get it.
Counter Strike soruce runs really well, so im not sure why? Could it be my screen? I have a 19 inch TFT Ryoku.

Have you instaled your graphics card driver and chipset drivers? silly question I know but gotta ask.lol

Yeah yesterday i uninsatalled my old cat and installed the new one 6.9
This also hasn't changed the problem.

try deleting the folders in cache
C:\Documents and Settings\Home\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache
and then starting up bf2 it will re optimize ur graphics settings

Tried that, still makes no differance. Getting very frustrating now.
