Maybe you should try reading the original post before spouting off.

They did read the post and told him that the only thing he could do was to call EA and pay for a new one. "Maybe you should try reading the original post before spouting off"

Re: Need some help recovering from

He asked for technical help restoring registry info.

He got a number of replies.. some saying spend $10 and get a new key (valid help there, even if he doesn't want to do it I agree)... and other useless posts going off on same mad rant about how he wants a free a key from EA. He never said that. And, up until the last few posts no one really made it clear WHY restoring the registry wouldn't help.. so a reply like "go buy a new key" isn't really helpful w/o that info. Instead he gets "OMG, you luser.. it's not EA's fault you lost your key.. Ju N00b. Lets start a free key petition" {insert sacrcasm}..

      Real nice

I apologize I made a reference to EA - and paying for keys, in my post. I guess the whole thread got me worked up. :hmm:

Anyway, like has been stated, getting into the registry won't help. Sorry, man.

          Geez, smart-asses read his post!!!

All the guy asks for is to show him a way to recover his CD-key from his HDD, if there is. He has a bit of a grunt against EA (not so strange) and someone placed his manual somewhere in the house and doesn't remember (can happen) . He never asked for EA to pay for anything!

@ AnotherEd: Man, you're way out of line here!!!

To the OP, I don't think it's possible. With the release of one of the patches the key info was encrypted. So, unless you can find an applet out there that will decrypt it for you, restoring the registry info won't be much of a help.
Ignore "Mr. Ed", he is just a miserable, bitter, troll:|:

He in fact did ask why he should pay for something he already owned. To which we have basically responded and clarified that sometimes things you own get screwed up and you have no one to blame but yourself.

Sorry, but I choose to use sarcasm as a way of getting people's attention/understanding. It hopefully makes them realize the absurdity of their expectations.
