but have wondered about a few things....

when you are in a squad and the green indicator turns to green with orange around it..what does it mean ?

what is the purpose of the yellow and purple smoke some folks pop at flags ?

what is the purpose of the line some folks seem to draw across the map ?


....so the folks who go down roll over and kill you right away are using a hack, an exploit, a cheat which EA/Dice will not fix and Punkbuster will not stop ? why ?

A: It means he is hurt and he needs a medic.

A: Yellow smoke means: Move to that location. Purple is either Defend that location or Repairs needed at that location.

A: It gives you a direction you need to go (follow the line), Its a command that was given either by your commander or squad leader

A: Thats going prone, it not a cheat. Dolphin Diving and Bunny Hops are worse than someone going prone.

The smoke indicates what your squad leader wants you to do. It is the same color as the icon on the map. So if he wants you to defend a flag, a purple shield will come up on the map where he wants you to defend. In addition, a purple line connects your dot to the shield, and when you get there, you will see purple smoke.


to roll - hold a sidestep button then hit your "prone (lie down)" button. You will not see yourself roll - but to other people they see you as rolling.

Re: Rolling - It's also important to realize that that is nothing but an animation and not representative of their actual hitbox. If you see somebody rolling, aim for the lowest part of them right along the ground... the animation is still playing but their hit-box instantly hit the ground the moment the server was told that they hit the "Prone" key.

Same thing when you come face to face with an enemy. it may seem silly but if they are about to dive to the ground, aim for their feet, you will get a headshot.

You forgot to mention that orange smoke can also be an order from the Commander or Squad Leader to Destroy a target with C4 (if your Spec Ops), and also that purple smoke can be an order to repair a targer (if your Engineer).

This is true, but a Commander's orders are only visible to Squad Members if the Squad Leader accepts the order. The Commander cannot directly give orders to Squad Members withouth the Squad Leader's approval.

i think the destroy/attack and repair/defend are slightly different shades of the same color.

Just pull up the map and right click on the spot you are at when you are a squad leader. Just right click and go through all the commands that are listed. You'll see what each does and how it affects the map and your surroundings.

LOL, ya that is where someone is able to jump while being flat in the air, then hitting the deck flat. Not the same thing as just going to the ground quick.

1 - When the green indicator has orange/red around it then it means that the squad leader is dead/hurt/in need. When it is like this, you can no longer spawn at him. When the indicator is just plain green, it is safe to spawn at his position

2 - The yellow and purple smoke is something squad leaders use to direct you to where they want you to go. That yellow or purple smoke is the co-ordinate that the squad leader is heading and is where he wants you to go. It is smart to only follow his orders if you know he is a smart player.

3 - That line is just the direct route from your position to the area where the yellow or purple smoke and is where the squad leader wants you to go.

4 - As for the rolling. It's no hack, press z and you quickly go prone, when watching someone else go prone, there is a rolling animation. The animation takes longer than going prone does for the player and so a player can shoot halfway through the roll since from his vision, his not rolling, his just gone down by the halfway point of the animation.
