Joint Task Force and Company Of Heros

hey i have downloaded the demo for joint task force and i loved it. i liked the fact that u didnt build bases and create giant tank forces and just overrun a base, like in command and conquer. well that can sometimes be fun, i really dont like playing those kind of games online. all everyone does is make a ton of tanks and try to overrun a bases quickly. i am more of a conservative and passive kind of rts player, always playing slowly and trying to coordinate all my seperate forces to stategically destroy my enemy. so naturally i always lose when playing command and conquer online. its just to fast for me. but i loved the jtf demo, because you had to use much more stratigy to win, not just lots of units. i think it has a lot of potential in online and skrimish play, not to mention singleplayer.

but it seems like everyone loved company of heros. i havnt downloaded the demo, caues it says itwill take like 5 hours, so im not even gonna try. but al i hear is praise for it. so i got some questions. graphics, physics and destructable enviornment aside, how does the gameplay stack up to other rts games? do u build bases and buy units like in command and conquer? im just wondering what it is like

i have already made my choice to buy joint task force, but maybe il ask for company of heros for christmas or something. i just want some dirt on how these games compare, and what comapny of heros is like

Sorry to go off topics and not answer your question. But I know what you mean. I used to play Age of Empires : Return of Kings and all they did is build units and move in fast. In 3 minutes I was destroyed. I really want to know the answer to your questions too. I hear a lot about this game.

ive got coh, i personnaly love it. the graphics are great, personnaly its the best rts graphics. You may change the pysics in the graphic menu from low to high. Everything yo love at can be destroved- from buildings being shot down by tanks, and by rocket laucnhers blowing the **** out of them. No the gameplay doesnt stack up like other rts's, its diffrent. yes, you build bases and make troops. You can make outposts and MG42 nests and bunkers and all of that.

Online is fun, i havnt got that far in it but so far its cool. 2-8 players.

I know what he is saying.

Basically you hate how people online have the ability to make a mass army of Tanks. In Company of Heroes you need the resources to do this and a lot of them. First off you have to capture a point sort of like in BF2 capping a flag. There are many areas spread around the battlefield. These areas can either be fuel dumps or ammunition bases. If you capture them the more resources go up, the more you capture the more resources go up and faster.

Re: Joint Task Force and Company Of Heros

COH is the best game i have ever played. And trust me i have played alot of RTS's. The gameplay is just brilliant, theres a small issue with the pathing of some of the units but and you have to have quite a high end PC to run it on good graphics , but High GFX are amazing, it sends a tingle down my spine when i put a artillery barrage on a tight nazi defense and it blows the #$@% out of them and it is historically correct. Their has been alot of whining on how a sherman isnt an even match for the german tanks.....DUUR in the war it took 3 shermans to take down the panzer, it was a superior tank. LOVE THE DESTRUCTABLE ENVIROMENT and the Explosion effects are simply orgasmic. With Coh you cant build masses of forces straight away because its just impossible. If you have ever played Warhammer 40,000 its kinda the same gameplay, you cap points for the resources which is much better and slowly build up forces. (you will need to set up frontlines, dont get to greedy and take all the points at once). to destroy the enemy forces it definitly takes strategy. I Love how you can take down 2 or 3 panzers with a squad of airorne troopers, just takes strategy and the ability to exploit their weaknesses). Something that is fun is to put a sniper at their main base, ANNOYS THE SHIZ OUT OF ME when the AI does it. But i have yet to lose a battle to the AI on hard, Even when i give them a few points to get back on their feet. Just not satisfying to me. Cant wait till i get to play with other people.

The simple unit control is good, not having to do all these upgrades and thigns to be able to get to the good units is nice. Tho im yet to play the full (only have demo) which comes out here in Australia on the 28th ARRGGHH!! i have not yet experienced the multiplayer side of it. CANT WAIT!!!!!!

JTF has awesome scenery (columbia jungle) and the GFX are also stunning, unfortuantly i am one of those people who buildmasses of units and just go on a rampage, but thats just me. but i still do like to strategise and kill them that way which COH promotes. But its just not the type of RTS i enjoy so i dont think i will be looking to far into that.

COH is DEFINITLY a good one to pick up

Playing the Campaign for Company of Heroes right now, this game is sick!

Makes me glad something new is out, gets me away from all the BS in BF2.

well, tried the COH demo....and actually wasnt really impressed. well, the graphics and physics were sick, but still, it didnt really leave me thirsting for more. after i beat the JTF demo, i was longing SOOO much to get the game and play all the levels and maps. COH seems like a good game, but its just not really my kind of taste (compaired to JTF)
but i bet im still gonna get it for christmas. its good, but its just that if i am gonna dish out 50$ for a game, its gonna be the one i like best, not the one everyone says is best

Wehn you play Multiplayer is it 1v1 or a lot more people playing in one server?

I downloaded and installed the JTF demo and it stays on the "installing .net 2.0" window for like 15 minutes :hmm: .
