Joypad/Game Controller VS. Keyboard&Mouse

Anyone use a Joypad/Game Controller instead of a Keyboard and Mouse?

Which is easier? I was thinking about picking up a Game Controller like a PS2 one, and using it in BF2.

Does BF2 recognize the Game Controller?

are you talking about for infantry or for flight?

if for flight - get a stick.

as for infantry - using a mouse is always bettern than a gamepad due to its accuracy.

A joypad/game controller might be better for flying a jet than keyboard and mouse, but it definitely won't be better for ground pounding or using ground vehicles. You just can't accurately and precisely move the joystick as fast as someone using a keyboard and mouse.

Any advantage for helo is going to be a personal preference, but I find that I'm much better with a keyboard and mouse than I am with a joystick (I know he's talking about a game controller, but they're similar).

But BF2 will recognize the controller although you may have to edit the controls file a little bit to get all the buttons to work or whatever (maybe, maybe not).

I was thinking about getting a controller for BF2 as well, But as soon as i got used to KB & Mouse gameplay, No comparison, KB & Mouse is better for FPS.

Because of the movement you have to do, and i think you can track your target more accurately.


I use a Joystick for when i goto the sky. Flying with the joystick combined with the ingame sounds and the sounds that i make (Like whistling when i drop bombs) makes it a great gaming experince for me.:)

I have a stick and I still use my Key/Mouse for flying, not sure why but I fly a lot better that way. As for infantry, nothing will beat teh K/M. Thats why shooters on consoles suck.

Z-Board with BF2 Insert and G5 Mouse. Joystick for jets only.

My game has jumped dramatically.
